The Harvard Lions Club Gratefully Accepts Your Donations,

Which Help Us Support Our Charities

The Harvard Lions Club is an active, diverse, growing organization of local men and women who enjoy working together contributing their time and talents to making a difference in the local community and beyond.  We help families in need, support community programs and contribute to numerous charitable organizations near and far. We enjoy the camaraderie and social interaction of planning and conducting fund raising events year round.  Most of all we share the satisfaction and fulfillment that comes from helping others. New members are always welcome! You can also visit us on Facebook.

Lions Eyeglass Donation

The Lions have a dropbox at the Harvard Post Office for donations of old unused eyeglasses. The box is in the lobby at 215 Ayer Rd.

Community Support

While Lion clubs are chartered to support research and services in the areas of sight, hearing and diabetes at the region, national and international level, we also serve our local community both with respect to these healthcare issues as well as a broad range of other local needs.  Following are some of the many ways in which the Harvard Lions benefit the local community…

  • Purchase of new sight screening equipment for Harvard schools

  • Sight and hearing screenings of Harvard students using the Lions Sightmobile

  • Provide equipment to support Special Education students

  • Hearing and vision support for local Harvard families

  • Aiding disabled families, such as providing wheel chair ramps

  • Assisting local senior citizens

  • Donations to local food pantries

  • Scholarships for deserving high school seniors

  • Contributions to community programs e.g. post prom party, town Halloween celebration, HES playground, fire department and ambulance squad

  • ’Just Understand My Potential’…local youth development program

Lions Charities

In addition to supporting local community needs and programs, the Harvard Lions Club, like all Lions Clubs around the world, is focused on serving the blind and visually impaired, as well as those suffering from hearing impairment and diabetes.  Here are some of the organizations which we regularly support each year…

  • Lions Club International Sight First Foundation…a worldwide blindness prevention program that aims to eliminate preventable and reversible blindness

  • Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund

  • Clara Barton Diabetes Camp for girls

  • Joslin Diabetes Camp for Boys

  • Assistance Dogs for the Deaf and Disabled (including ‘Canines for Combat Veterans’ and ‘Canines for Disabled Kids’)

  • Lions Sight and Hearing Fund…which provides financial assistance to families and schools for new equipment

  • 'Audio Journal’ for the visually impaired

  • Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program

Making A Difference

When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple.  Helping individual families and senior citizens in need…providing vision and hearing screenings in the local schools…supporting community programs monetarily and hands-on…contributing to charities that do research and provide services for the visually and hearing impaired and those suffering from diabetes…and assisting regions battered by natural disaster. Because we're local, we can serve the unique needs of our community. And because we're part of a regional, national and global organization, we can help address challenges that go beyond borders.
