WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
The Wilmington Lions Club Golf Classic is the major fund-raiser for The Wilmington Lions Club. One hundred percent of the profits from our fund-raisers are used to support the needy (primarily blind or visually impaired persons) in our community. The money that was raised last year was used as follows:
Paid for eye exams and glasses for indigent persons.
Made donations to the N. C. Lions Inc. which uses this money for
Support and White Canes, Vision Van expenses, Organ and
Procurement costs, Deaf and blind Retreat, etc.
Donated funds to help support Camp Dogwood, a summer camp
especially for blind and visually impaired persons
Paid expenses for visually impaired persons to attend Camp Dogwood
for a week during the summer
Donated to Boys and Girls Homes, Inc., at Lake Waccamaw
Sponsored a visit of the NC Lions Vision Van to conduct free eye
screenings for indigent people in our community.
Conducted vision screenngs for children and adults
Provided social activties for the Visually Impaired including an Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and a cookout in the spring
Several other minor expenditures to help indigent people in our community
