5th Annual Lions Apple Drop

The Tehachapi Lions Club will be holding their 5th Annual Apple Drop on October 8th at the Tehachapi Apple Festival.  You might be wondering what the Apple Drop is.  It is a fundraiser put on by the Lions to raise funds for the Lions Diabetes Foundation and Tehachapi Christmas for Seniors.  The money raised from ticket sales funds both projects.  The Lions have taken on Tehachapi Christmas for Seniors as their main service project for the past three years.  They provide a Christmas to over 30 seniors in the community who are low-income and/or homebound, who have no family around to celebrate with.  The Lions purchase "Wish List" items for the seniors and their pets and deliver them along with poinsettias and sundries items in December.  Now we come to, "How does the Apple Drop work?"  When you purchase a ticket, your ticket number corresponds with a number that is on a stressball apple.  The stressball apple is added to a bin.  During the Tehachapi Apple Festival on October 8th at 2:00 p.m., the apples in the bin will be dropped onto a target from a lift.  The apples that land closest to the center will win prizes such as a $1,000 Walmart gift card, a $500 Target gift card, a $100 Kmart gift card, dinner for 2 at the Steampunk Cafe, free carwashes from Sail Thru Car Wash and many more items donated by businesses in our wonderful community.  Apple Drop tickets are $5 and there are various ways to purchase tickets:  You can buy tickets from any Tehachapi Lions member, tickets are currently being sold at Sail Thru Car Wash- 532 Tucker Rd., tickets will be sold at Albertsons from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on September 22, 23, 29, 30, and October 6 and 7th, and you can also purchase tickets at the Lions booth during the Tehachapi Apple Festival on October 7th and 8th.  Help the Lions support two worthy causes and take a chance on winning some wonderful prizes (you do not have to be present to win).
