EACH YEAR THE CLUB HONORS BIG SPRING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO HAVE ACHIEVED ACADEMIC AND SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND LIVE IN THE PLAINFIELD AREA.  HERE ARE THE 2023 - 2024 STUDENTS THE CLUB HAS HONORED

OCTOBER 2023

 

Johnathan Gleed was introduced as the October Student of the Month.  Johnathan is a senior at Big Spring High School.  He is a member of the Tri-M and National Technical Honors Societies.  He also participates in the TSA, Environment, Book Ends and JAM Clubs.  He is a member of the Student Council, the Big Spring Mentor and Big Brother/Big Sister Programs.  He is a saxophonist in the Marching, Jazz, Pit and District Concert Bands.  He works at Saylors Market and is a supervisor for the Special Olympics.  He also participates in the high school soccer and track and field teams.  His goal is to attend a college that offers ROTC for the Air Force.  He plans to have a dual major, with one of the majors in Music, with the goal of opening a business, possibly in the music industry.  Johnathan is the son of Paul and Kim Gleed and has a younger sister Gaby.  

NOVEMBER 2023 

Leah Bear was introduced November Student of the Month.  Leah is a senior at Big Spring High School.  She is a member of the National Honor and the National Technical Honor Societies and is in the Mu Alpha Theta club.  She is also participating in the Big Spring High School’s Internship Program, working at Clelan’s Custom Welding as a CAD (Computer Aided Design) detailer.  Leah enjoys her time outside of school spending it with her friends and family.  Leah’s future plans is to earn an associate’s degree in CAD Drafting and Engineering, possibly attending Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology or Pennsylvania College of Technology.  Leah is the daughter of Jacob and Heather Bear and has a younger sister Allison.   

DECEMBER 2023

Mackenzie Flickinger was introduced as the December Student of the Month.  Mackenzie is a senior at Big Spring High School.  She is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) club.  Mackenzie is also a member of the Big Spring Softball team.  Her future plans is to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University leading to a career as an actuary.  Mackenzie is the daughter of Andrew and Nicole Flickinger and has a younger sister RyLeigh Flickinger and a son Carson Flickinger.   

JANUARY 2024

Katelynn Mattern was introduced as the January Student of the Month.  Katelynn is a senior at Big Spring High School.  She is a member of the Tempus Leo, Student Christian Athletes and Future Business Leaders of America clubs.  Katelynn plays trumpet for the Marching and Jazz bands at the school.  She is currently working as a Marketing Assistant at Chick-fil-A in Carlisle.  Her future plans is to earn a Marketing degree from Shippensburg University.  She also plans to play in the Shippensburg University band.  Katelynn is the daughter of Traci and Travis Barnhart, and has an older sister Nevaeh Barnhart, a younger sister Alexis and a younger brother Braydon.   

FEBRUARY 2024

Blake Wenger was introduced as the February Student of the Month.  Blake is a senior at Big Spring High School.  He is a member of the Student Council and the Student Athlete Leadership Council.  He is a member of the Tempus Leo, Future Business Leaders of America and Student Christian Athletes clubs.  During the fall, Blake was a member of the Big Spring golf and cross-country teams.  He will be competing with the track team this spring.  He will attend St. Bonaventure University where he will continue his academic and athletic careers.  Blake is the son of Stef and Ryan Wenger and has a younger brother Gavin.   

MARCH 2024

Sarah Slotter was introduced as the March Student of the Month.  Sarah is a senior at Big Spring High School.  She is very interested in art and hopes to continue that interest in her career after school.  Sarah is the daughter of Norm Slotter.
