Why should you consider joining us?
We are men and women just like you who share common goals: we want to help those less fortunate than ourselves and make our community a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Our club is one of over 45,000 that comprise the world's largest service organization, Lions Clubs International. Our focus is and will always be right here in our community. We support national and international programs, but Moses Lake and the surrounding area will always come first.
We take pride in the services we provide to our community, but we have fun, too. Our meetings are primarily social events - a good meal, fellowship, a program of some kind, and maybe a little bit of business thrown in here and there. Most club business is conducted at our Board of Director's meetings, which all members are welcome to attend. Our members regularly attend Conferences, Conventions and Forums, each an opportunity to make and renew friendships and learn about Lionism. We strongly encourage our members to visit other clubs and will usually get a group together to make such visits. And we've been known to get together on the odd afternoon for a round of golf.
We want to attract high energy members who will do their part in helping the club reach its goals. Lions have different talents and abilities, and those assets must be recognized and channeled by the leadership to give members the greatest satisfaction from their contribution to an activity. Praise for a job well done is quickly given.
Membership. Membership in Lions Clubs International is open to all persons over the age of 18 having high moral character and a good reputation in his/her community.
Come As You Are. As a member of a Lions Club you are not required to buy any particular clothing or costume. You wear no special hats, have no secret passwords and endure no mystical initiation rites. There are no tricks, gimmicks or surprises.
You gain immediate acceptance. You have nothing to prove: Lions accept you as you are. We don't care whether you're a doctor or a doorman, whether you have a Ph.D. or a GED . There's no place for snobbery in the Lions.
You win the approval of your peers. When your friends, neighbors and business associates learn that you have joined the Lions you are likely to receive their approval. People are aware that Lions do good things in their community.
You take pride in your association. As a Lion you are a member of the largest service organization in the world. This an organization with over 1,350,000 members in nearly 45,000 clubs in over 200 countries.
You get a feeling of accomplishment. Membership offers an opportunity to participate with a group rather than acting alone in helping those who are less fortunate. We know the government often falls short of fulfilling the community's needs and we as Lions are called upon to help our fellow citizens.
You exploit your talents. As a member of the Lions, there are plenty of opportunities to demonstrate your abilities as an active committee member or chairman or as an organizer and leader of a fund-raising or social event.
You make good contacts. They say it's not what you know but who you know that counts. In the Lions club you can count on making contact with people well worth knowing. Membership places you in the company of many successful individuals from a variety of business and professional fields of endeavor.
If your interest has been piqued or you'd like to know more just contact any of theseclub officers. We'll be more than happy to talk to you and arrange a visit to a club meeting.
