Thanks the Public for Supporting our Fundraisers

Lions Pancake Breakfast @ Applebee's

Lake Sumter Lions held their first Lions Pancake Breakfast and it was a success.  Sponsored by the TB Financial Group, the pancake breakfast was held at Applebees in The Villages.  Thanks go to Lion John (aka Walter) who organized and led this very successful new fundraiser.

2019-2020 White Cane Days

Lake Sumter Lions feel fortunate to live in a community that is so generous to the Lions.  The Club conducts White Cane Days two times a year at Wal-Mart and four Publix grocery stores located in/around The Villages.  Members collect $$ from the public, most of who know about the good works of Lions.  Lions are assisted by dog handlers for Southeastern Guide Dog (SEGD) with their Puppies-in-Training.

All monies collected go to the Club's sight and diabetes testing programs, to include the Southeastern Guide Dogs organization. Thanks goes to Chairman Lion Bob who organizes these fundraisers.

Members just completed the Fall 2019 White Cane Days.  We were asissted by our SEGD puppy "Keller" which the Lake Sumter Lions sponsored.

Lions Chinese Auction
Feb 3, 2019
Next Chinese Auction:  Feb 8, 2020

We had a great crowd of over 200 people who attended our fourth Chinese Auction on Feb 3, 2019 at the Eisenhower Rec Center.  Attendees bought raffle tickets for over 70 gift baskets ranging in value from $50 to over $100, as well as tickets for 50/50 drawings.  Lions served a meal of grilled hamburgers, chips, cookies and soda.  The proceeds benefit the vision programs of the Lake Sumter Lions Club, to include our expanding Kidsight program.  A very successful fundraiser.  Thanks goes to Chairs Lion John and Lion Doris and their committee.

Collecting & Recycling Aluminum Cans

At least 3 days a week, Lake Sumter Lions collect the aluminum cans in large black bags and load them on the Lions truck. Collection barrels are located at postal stations north of Route 466 in The Villages.  Once the Lions truck is full, Lions drive the truck to a nearby recycling center. This project not only raises funds for Lions activities but also keeps our community "green" by collecting and recycling aluminum cans.  Thanks goes to Lion Kevin who is the Chairman of this fundraiser.  And thanks to those who deposit their empty cans in the red collection barrels.

Aluminum Can Chairman Kevin sent a call out for members to repair the wooden cab on the truck.  Several Lions showed up and repairs were done (with some monkeying around!) at the home of Lions Gary and Sharon.  Lunch was provided afterwards by Lion Sharon and Gary.

A year later, Lions were again called upon to repair the cab of the "Can Truck."

Lions ReSell-It Day
March 22, 2019

Lake Sumter Lions held their fourth annual Re-Sell It Day on Friday March 22, at the Rohan Rec Center.  Buyers had a variety of pre-owned items from which to choose from: jewelry, books, DVDs, crafts, linens, garden tools, collectibles, and readers eyeglasses.  Thanks goes to Co-Chairwomen Kathy and Jane who organized this year's ReSell-It Day.

Thanks for your support.
