Thanks the Public for Supporting our Fundraisers

2022 Spring and Fall White Cane Days

Lake Sumter Lions solicited donations from the public at White Cane Days, held at various local Publix grocery stores.  Lions are always appreciative when they are assisted by SEGD puppies-in-training and their trainers.  Funds raised at White Cane Days support the Club's service activites and projects.

Lions ReSell-It Day
Lake Sumter Lions held their 7th annual Re-Sell It Day on Sunday, March 13.  Like the previous year, Lions held three separate garage sales located within an half mile of each other, in the village of Poinciana.  Unlike last year, the sale was moved from a Saturday to Sunday due to forecasted heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Sunday was a sunny but cool day, a perfect day for a garage sale.  This year's ReSell-It was a very profitable day and a great day of teamwork at all three locations.

Zero K Run Fundraiser

What a great Zero K Run fundraiser. The object was not to run or bike or walk, but rather step over the start and finish line at the same time...thus a Zero K Run. Each participant received a medal.
Participants met at Sunny Pint where they completed their "Run," received their medal and then enjoyed flatbreads, beer, sangria, among other food items. A few folks could not attend that day, so they completed their run the next day at the Lake Sumter Lions Club meeting. Thanks Lion Jaci for organizing this FUNdraiser.

2021 Spring and Fall White Cane Days

It was a long pandemic year when the Lake Sumter Lions could not conduct their semi-annual White Cane Days.  That ended in April 2021 when the Lake Sumter Lions began conducting their White Cane Days at local Publix grocery stores.  Members collect $$ from the public, most of who know about the good works of Lions.  As in previous years, Lions were assisted by SEGD puppies-in-training and their trainers.

Lions Pancake Breakfast @ IHOP

Lake Sumter Lions held a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser and it was a success.  Lots of good food and fellowship while making money.  Thanks go to Lion John (aka Walter) who organized and led this very successful new fundraiser.

Collecting & Recycling Aluminum Cans
Change to How Lions Do It

Previously, Lake Sumter Lions collected aluminum cans at the postal stations north of Rt 466.  But, due to an email written to The Villages District Manager by Bill Schikora, District 2 Supervisor, the Lake Sumter Lions Club no longer be collecting aluminum cans at the postal stations. Apparently, government property can not be used for fundraising unless everyone has equal access. Mr Schikora had complained previously about Lions recycling of cans.
HOWEVER.....Individual members of the Lake Sumter Lions Club are collecting aluminum cans from neighbors and friends.  Every 4-6 weeks, Lion Chuck gathers these cans and takes them to the Recycling Center in Wildwood.  While the volume and profits are down, we are still performing a community recycling service and making a bit of money for Club projects.

Lions Chinese Auction

Feb 8. 2020
Next Auction:   Feb 2023
Thanks goes to Lions Doris, John, and Bunny and their committee for an extremely successful (and fun!) fundraiser.  We had a great crowd of over 200 people who attended our 5th Chinese Auction at the Eisenhower Rec Center.  Attendees bought raffle tickets for over 60 gift baskets ranging in value from $50 to over $100, as well as tickets for 50/50 drawings.  Lions also served a meal of grilled hamburgers, chips, cookies and soda.

Thanks for your support.
