To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. The Lions motto is "We Serve".

Since its inception on November 21, 1939, the Henderson Lions Club has been dedicated to fulfilling the motto of all Lions Clubs: "We Serve". The club has always been active in all aspects of community service, with the primary goal being all areas that will promote the conservation of eyesight.

The Henderson Lions Club meet each Tuesday at 11:30am at 215 North Elm Street, Worsham Hall, in Henderson, Kentucky. Prospective members are always welcome!

The Henderson Lions Club, often referred to as the "City Lions", is a community service organization dedicated to The Henderson City Lions motto: "We Serve". The objectives of the Henderson Lions Club are:

  • To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
  • To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
  • To take an active interest in civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.
  • To unite the club in the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding.
  • To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest, provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
  • To encourage service-minded men and women to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in community professions, public works, and private endeavors.

We are always looking for civic minded citizens and volunteers who are willing to donate some time and effort toward making our community a better place in which to live. Melvin Jones Fellowship Award

Created in 1973, the Melvin Jones Fellowship is named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones. The fellowship is an honor given to individuals who contribute the equivalent of US$1,000 to LCIF, and persons for whom such donations are made by others. The Fellowship was established as Lions Clubs International Foundation’s (LCIF) highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service.

Melvin Jones Fellows receive a lapel pin and a personalized wall plaque in honor of their commitment to helping others. This is an international award and Lions members selected for this award will be forever recognized for that honor at Lions International Headquarters.

The club receives a Melvin Jones Fellow banner patch and chevron for the first member to receive MJF recognition. For each subsequent year a member is inducted as a fellow, the club receives a chevron. When all current club members are Melvin Jones Fellows, the club receives a 100 % Melvin Jones Fellowship banner. In addition, a Certificate of Distinction is presented to a club representative at the Lions Clubs International Convention.

This year the Henderson Lions Club proudly presents the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to David Crafton in recognition of his outstanding support and dedication to Lions Club and his leadership in the many different areas of our club.
