For over 35 years, the Darlington Lions Club has hosted a youth fishing rodeo for kids ages 3-15 on the 2nd Saturday in June.  The Conowingo Lions have co-hosted the event for the past decade.  The fishing takes place at the Deer Creek Picnic Area of Susquehanna State Park.  Kids should bring their own rods, reels, and fishing gear to compete for age group prizes for most fish caught and largest fish, as well as door prizes.  Look for signs about 1 month prior to the event, or contact us for more information.

The club also has an annual scholarship competition for graduating high school seniors who intend to continue their education at either an accredited college or university, or a trade school.  Eligibility is limited to students who reside in the Darlington zip code (21034) or who have previously attended either the Darlington or Dublin Elementary Schools.  Applications are due April 15 each year to the club mailbox, P.O. Box 393, Darlington, MD 21034.  Scholarship award amounts range up to $1000.  Contact us for an application.

We have established a LEO Club area kids ages 12-18.  The purpose of the club is to promote service activities among the youth of the community to foster the development of the individual qualities of Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity.  The youth who join have fun, make new friends, and experience the rewards of serving others.  For more information, contact us or visit the Leo Club webpage at
