The Darlington Lions Club is part of the largest service organization in the world, namely Lions Club International (LCI).  While our community’s club makes up a small part of 1.4 million LCI members around the globe, we are very active in servicing the rural areas surrounding Darlington.

LCI was founded in 1917 and at one of its first national conventions was challenged by Helen Keller to become “Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness.”  Lions around the world accepted this challenge and to this day continue to execute a number of programs for the blind and visually impaired.

The Darlington Lions Club of Maryland was formed in 1947 and for 75 years has served and provided assistance to the community.  At present, we have 18 men and women club members dedicated to taking on projects to better the community and undertake fund raising activities to support local residents and community projects, as well as some of the initiatives of LCI.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
