Coppell Lions Receive Award

Lion Past Council Chair John Eads and Lion Past Council Chair John Landrum awarded the Coppell Lions Club with the "TOP CONTRIBUTOR" award for the Lion District 2-X1 Build-A-Bed Project in conjunction with the Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) organization. The Coppell Lions Club had contributed over $49,000 to the 6 bed builds held over three years which accounted for 196 beds of the over 600 beds that have been built.

Club President Past District Governor Fred Conger is shown receiving the miniature "SHP" bed frame award on Saturday October 11, 2025. Over 300 Lions, High School Youth, and SHP members participated in this the 6th Lion District 2-X1 Build-A-Bed event which resulted in 75 bunk bed frame sets. When a bed is delivered to a child who has no bed, a mattress, pillow and bed clothes are also included completing the bed installation.

Coppell Lions President Awarded Presidential Leadership Award Medal

Club President (Past District Governor) Fred Conger recently received a Lions Clubs International "Presidential Leadership Award" Medal for the Lion Year 2024-2025 from now Immediate Past International President Fabricio Oliveira. This medal is the 4th highest award given by LCI.

This is the 4th such medal that Lion Fred has received since 2012. The award is limited to Lion leaders who have contributed to the success of Lions Clubs International during an International President's term. They are quite rare as only a very limited number of such awards are given among the 1.4 million Lions worldwide each year. Receiving multiple awards are even more rare.

CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF LIONISM!!

On Monday February 19th, the Coppell Lions Club members celebrated

their 40th year of service to the community of Coppell, Texas.

Several past members and District 2-X1 oGicials attended this event. In

attendance was past member and past Coppell resident Rebecca Boatman.

She is believed to have been the first woman admitted into a Lions club after

female membership became available in 1987. Lions Clubs International was

the first international service club to admit women into their ranks.

Snacks and a commemorative cake were served. Former club members

shared memories and a slide show was provided that showed many of the

club’s service and fundraiser events. Each current club member received a

40th anniversary club patch to add to their Lions vest.

Chartered by Lions Clubs International on May 12th, 1983 the club has

served the Coppell community by collecting and recycling used eyeglass,

providing college scholarships to Coppell HS seniors, cleaning city parks and

streets, sponsoring the Coppell Community Summit of our local service and

religious organizations, providing grants for Coppell Parks and the Kid Country

playground, conducting the annual Christmas Holiday food and toy drive,

conducting free vision clinics and eyeglasses for Coppell students with vision

issues, and sponsoring free attendance for physically handicapped and or

diabetic youth campers to the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas.

Other service contributions include teaming with the two Carrollton

Lions clubs which together raised $100,000 needed to receive a Lions Clubs

International Foundation (LCIF) $100,000 matching grant to purchase a

custom mobile food pantry which was donated to Metrocrest Services for

food distribution into local area “food deserts”.

Lions Club’s mission is to Serve their community’s needs. LCIF’s

mission is to empower local Lions Clubs to accomplish humanitarian service

that would otherwise not be possible without the support of their monetary

grants.
