May 25th, 2024 the Chemung Lake District Lions Club celebrated their 50th year of service to their communities, Bridgenorth, Curve Lake, and Ennismore. 

We would like to thank all of our guests from Bancroft, Buckhorn, East Peterborough, Havelock, Keene, Land O'Lakes, Peterborough, Prince Edward County, Stirling, Trenton, Wellington, and Windsor,Nova Scotia Clubs along with Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides representatives that attended our special day. 

We would also like to thank Terry Finn for the musical entertainment.

PDG Lion Gord Taylor started with the Open Ceremonies and Comments.

Lion Paul J English (Charter member) gave a short rendition of the Club's history.

Current DG Lion Frank Hewitt presented Lion President Keith Elliott with a Certiicate of Recognition for the Club's 50 years of service.

Lion Ray Ostapovich, after discussing on how our Club started, presented our two charter members, Lion Larry Donohue and Lion Paul J English with a plaque to recognize 50 years of service.

PDG Lion Doug Galt, our Lions District A-3 Historian, presented a brief history of our Club and dicussed the Lions Roar.  For those who did not know what the Lions Roar was all about, PDG Lion Doug led in song, the Lions Roar, along with many members who did; PDG Lion Susan Taylor; current DG Lion Frank Hewitt; PDG Lion Gord Taylor; Lion Ivan Clark; PDG Lion Don Radnor; Region Chair Lion Nancy Lane; current 2nd VDG Lion Bryan Adams; PDG Lion Jim Wilson; Zone Chair Lion Steve Scally; PDG Lion Bill Lewis; Zone Chair Lion Sue Pierce.  Our apologies if we've missed anyone in the group. 

Selwyn Mayor Sherri Senis and Warden of Peterborough County Bonnie Clark also presented Lion President Keith Elliott and Lion Paul J English with certificates of appreciation and recognition for the Club's 50 years of service.

Lion President Keith Elliott presented the President's Award to Lion Paul J English for 50 years of continuous service in the Chemung Lake District Lions Club.

PDGs Lions Gord and Susan Taylor, currently with the Windsor, Nova Scotia Lions, presented a painting (that was painted by their Lions Secretary) of a sailboat depicting the Lions colours.  They also presented our Club with a personal gift of a lovely print depicting the Nova Scotia area where they now live in. 

PDG Lion Susan Taylor presented the Melvin Jones awards to four of our members - Lion President Keith Elliott, Lion Anne Tillie, Lion John Morris (Chair, Leader Dogs for the Blind), and Lion Steve Tillie.

 Lion President Keith Elliott, on behalf of the Chemung Lake District Lions, presented a cheque to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides CEO, Bev Crandell. And, lastly, the membership of the Chemung Lake District Lions along with Lions Foundation of Canada CEO, Bev Crandell and our newest recruit to the Dog Guides program, Mikey (9 months old).

         

A special request was sent to the Chemung Lake District Lions Club members to attend our last Cabinet meeting for the Lions year 2023-2024, at which time, District Governor Lion Frank Hewitt, on behalf of International President Lion Dr Patti Hill, presented Lion Paul J English (a 50-yr Chartered member) with the International President's Certificate of Appreciation in Recognition of Distinguished Achievements in Fulfilling the Mission of Lions International..  Standing with Lion Paul is Lion Lydia Elliott and Lion President Keith Elliott and our District Governor Lion Frank Hewitt in the background.
