Meetings

On a very early, very cold and misty morning of Tuesday 25th June between 5:30 am and 8:30 am.  there was a visit to Miller Park Branxton from the Channel 7 Sunrise morning show, hosted by TV personality Sam Mac, with a mystery presentation to a ‘Suburban Superstar’ whose identity, until that day, would remain secret.  The Lions Club of Branxton were requested to provide a BBQ on the day and all the local sports clubs were invited to attend.  There was an excellent turnout despite the cold weather and the early time of day, with sports and youth clubs arriving in big numbers. The Sunrise breakfast show carried the event live and went over to broadcast on several occasions during the programme.   The Suburban Superstar was named as well-known Branxton sportster Mark Bercini who is the mastermind behind most of the sports in the town, whatever the season, and, as a result, who received a $10,000 prize.

Branxton Lions did a ‘roaring’ trade selling their famous egg and bacon and sausage sandwiches.  They are pictured below with the Channel 7 production team and then a screenshot from the live TV practising their Lions roar.
