The 4th of July celebration at the Equestrian Center was an outstanding event for this community, and the Big Horn Lions Club wishes to thank all participants for their overwhelming support.  We believe it was the most successful fireworks show we have had in over 30 years.

We parked 14 rows of vehicles averaging ninety vehicles in a row totaling about 1200 plus vehicles.  With anywhere from two to six people to a vehicle, we estimate that there were from 5000 to 7000 people at the show. Sheriff Allen Thompson and his crew of officers were exceptional and informed me there were no arrests or even tickets issued.  None! He commented that participants thanked officers as they were exiting the field in appreciation for having the event.

I and many other Lions members, who helped park cars and collect donations, heard from hundreds of attendees of how thankful they were that we could hold this celebration and actually have the fireworks show.

We wish to thank Dr. Ian Hunter and the Sheridan County Health Department for guiding us through the process to secure State approval for holding the event, Sheila Blackburn of the Equestrian Center for providing a place of such beauty to hold this event, and of course Senator Bruce Burns and his crew of experts for putting on the show. It was spectacular. We wish to thank the sponsors of the Big Horn Lions Club, Scotty Scott of the Powder Horn, First Federal Bank and Trust, Sheridan Seed, Hammer Chevrolet, Summit Realty, First Interstate Bank, Rocky Mountain Exteriors, and the Powder Horn LLC  for provided support to enable us to secure insurance to allow the event to take place. Finally, we wish to thank the volunteer students of Big Horn High School for helping us clean up the polo field Sunday morning.  The funds raised from participant donations will allow us, along with other community Lions clubs, to provide vision screening to preschool children in our county’s public and private schools, provide vision exams and corrective glasses to some individuals in financial need, scholarships to graduating students from our High School, and other efforts to serve our community.

We wish to thank all the participants for their outstanding support and for making this 4th of July fireworks show such a celebration for our community.   On behalf of the Big Horn Lions Club and all the volunteers who made this event happen I wish to thank all the participants attending the festivities for their participation and cooperation in making this fourth of July fireworks celebration one of the most successful ever.

Thank you.
