Lions Vision Screenings
Members of the Deerfield Valley Lions recently completed vision screening of 192 children at the Deerfield Valley Elementary School and the Halifax School. The tests, which are performed with Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screening equipment, are able to detect a variety of vision issues, including near sightedness and difficulties in focus. The program known as "Lions Kidsight USA” is sponsored by the Vermont Lions and Lions Club International and is part of the organization's longstanding commitment to the prevention of blindness and the restoration of sight. The mission of Lions Kidsight USA is to ensure eye screening and follow up care for kids because all kids deserve to learn and to see the world clearly.
The screenings were coordinated with the assistance of school nurse Lon Hiebert at Twin Valley Elementary and principal Sandy Pentak at the Halifax School. Results of the testing and needed referrals are being provided to parents and the Lions are able to provide financial assistance for eyeglasses where needed. |
