  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As we are now requiring all staff to wear masks, the reusable cloth masks produced and handmade by the community have allowed us to conserve masks used for clinical and patient care. The staff is enjoying these masks and we want to continue to encourage these donations. If you would like to learn more about making masks or gowns, click here for more details.

We Serve the Deerfield Valley!

The Deerfield Valley Lions Club is one of the most active service clubs in Vermont, with members from Wilmington, Dover, Whitingham, Halifax and Searsburg.

Our projects & programs include:

Our annual Holiday Baskets program, which supplies tons of nutritious food to hundreds of people at risk of hunger across the Deerfield Valley.

• Our Eyesight Program provides free vision screening to all children in local schools. We also collect and recycle eyeglasses for those in need.

• Our community grant program assists local nonprofits with funding for worthwhile projects (Preference is given to programs aligned with Lions charitable focus areas).

• Community Halloween Party for local children and families

• Our Green-Up Day crews help clean local roadways each spring.

• In 2018, we partnered with Rotary Club of Deerfield Valley to paint The Gathering Place Adult Care

Neighborly best practices for helping during COVID-19

19 March 2020

While Vermonters are staying home as much as possible to slow the spread of COVID-19, some are stepping up to ensure their neighbors have what they need. This type of community support is crucial, but we need to make sure our helpers and volunteers are still using social distancing practices to protect our most vulnerable Vermonters.

The Vermont Department of Health recommends any volunteers bringing items to those who need to stay home:

  • Keep a distance of six feet away.
  • Avoid entering the recipient’s home.
  • Wash your hands regularly, avoid touching your face and cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • If you feel sick or learn that you have had contact with someone who is sick, stop doing community support work immediately.
  • Keep a list of anyone you come into close contact with in case contact tracing is required.
  • Wear clean gloves when handling items that may be given to people with a weaker immune system, and when you are close to someone who may be sick.

Common sense practices can go a long way while Vermonters take care of each other.

We deliver food staples and poinsettias for approx. 500 members of the greater community during the Holidays -- one of our many community support programs.

We serve!!

Our Lions club welcomes those from all over the Deerfield Valley who would be interested in joining us.  Please contact us for details and how you can become a part of building a better community, while enjoying the camaraderie of being a Lion.
