Blood Drive Summary through Fall, 2023:

For the past several years, The Westport Lions Club has sponsored two annual blood drives (May & October) by the American Red Cross at the VFW Hall in Westport, MA.  Since 2019, Lions members and the local community have generously donated over 250 units blood.

Westport Lions Club President Claire M. Sullivan, commented, “We are extremely grateful that each of our blood drives has been a success. During our 2023 sponsored events, we collected over 50 pints of blood.  We find that people are motivated to be donors because it’s a very personal way of giving.”

The Red Cross must collect more than 13,000 donations every day at about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. Accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and patients receiving treatment for disease may all require blood to help save their lives.

The Lions Club of Westport wishes to thank all those who donate.  For those who have never donated blood, the Lions encourage eligible donors to please consider doing so by visiting www.redcross.org/give-blood and finding a local blood drive.  Donations are always in constant demand!
