READ BEARS PROJECT 2026

In 2025 Wamuran lions Club presented all Year 1 students at Wamuran State School and Bellmere State School with a Read Bear pack. Each pack contains a handknitted bear with a personalised name tag, a first reader book, and is presented in a box to keep them both in. The aim of this project is to provide the children with a willing reading buddy who will listen without judgement, and be a friend in their learn-to-read journey. This program has been adopted from the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Program.
