2021 - 2022 Kidsight USA Award

What is Lions KidSight USA

The Virginia Beach Lion's Club is dedicated to screening vision in ages six months and older. It is possible to screen little ones. All they need to do is look.

Did you know that 80% of learning occurs through your vision. Thus, undetected vision difficulties contribute to learning difficulties. Lions Kidsight USA is a national program dedicated to screening children's vision and following up.

Technology Smart Equipment

A certified lion's club volunteer uses a handheld device that is touchless and digital. Researchers provided evidence that handheld device accurately detects vision difficulties like amblyopia (also known as lazy eye), astigmatism, eye alignment concerns, and poor vision. When a concern is found, the device shows the word, "Refer." Remember, this is a screening. The child receives a document to take home sharing finding and recommendation for child to see an eyecare professional.

How to Become a SPOT Screening Volunteer
