Lion Keith Wellington and his wife Rose attended the Presentation Ceremony in Manchester on the 4th October for the UK Heart Safe Awards 2019 on behalf of the Lions Club of Truro
The Trophy for The Not for Profit Award category were presented by Brendan Mahood, Regional Sales Manager, Stryker Medical, world leaders in the emergency products sector. Keith Wellington, Chairman of Truro Lions Club Defibrillator Appeal, is seen accepting the Award on behalf of the Truro Lions. The citation when the award was presented stated:
“To Lions Club of Truro for their outstanding contribution to heart safe environments and their amazing achievements to date “.
Lion Keith has spearheaded the installation of 55 Defibrillators in and around Truro over the past few years
This is the eighth year of UK Heart Safe Awards and was held in Manchester. The Lions category was made up of 11 shortlisted nominees, including another from Cornwall, the Ronnie Richards Memorial Charity (winner 2018). Overall there were 95 finalists across 11 categories.
The compère was Jenny Powell, TV presenter.

Public Access Defibrillators
Keith Wellington receives an International Presidents Certificate, acknowleding his work in spearheading the Public Access Defibrillator Appeal and facilitating defibrillators inTruro and the surrounding area. Past International Director Lion Guðrún Björt Yngvadóttir, from Iceland makes the presentation, watched by District Governor Lion Lesley Clarke, at the District Convention held in March 2016 at Croyde Bay
At the start of his Presidential year, in July 2013, Keith Wellington launched an appeal to raise funds to site Public Access Defibrillators throughout the City and surrounding areas.
