Yard Sale and E-Waste Collection

Our annual Yard Sale and E-Waste are an opportunity for the community to bring the electronic items to be recycled. Items collected are:  cell phones, cameras, vcrs, computers, fax machines, televisions, microwaves, stereos, printers, monitors, dvds, etc.  The Yard Sale is held inside the Tamworth arena, and there are over 60 tables of items including dishes, books, children's toys, appliances, tools, home renovation goods, lawn and gardening equipment, etc.  There is also an assortment of furniture items annually.

 Annual Golf Tournament 

Cancelled for  2020  

25 teams of golfers enjoy a round of golf, steak dinner and prizes at our Annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful Briarfox course in Marysville.. The Club has a silent auction at the tournament with prizes donated by local businesses. Funds raised at the tournament go to support the Club projects in the community. To date the Club has donated over $60,000 from funds raised at this fun event!.

Canada Day

Cancelled for 2020.  

 

On July 1st, the Tamworth & District Lions Club support the Canada Day Committee by hosting a hamburg and hotdog bbq at the Tamworth ball field.   All proceeds from the sale of the bbq, and ice cold drinks is donated to the Canada Day Committee to help with the cost of the annual event.

 11th Annual Kids Fishing Derby

Cancelled for 2020

The Annual Kids Fishing Day is held the Saturday after Canada Day. Children aged 0 – 12 are invited to participate in this fun filled morning at The Lions Beaver Lake Park. At registration each child that participates will receive on a “boddle bag” and worms. The Lions Club serves up a BBQ lunch that everyone (parents included) will enjoy. Although the bbq is free of charge, donations are accepted. There is a draw for prizes at the end of the morning, and all children who register receive a prize. The Club receives donations of prizes and money for this event from various local sponsors. August 16, 2020 - Lions Fish Fry & Corn Roast 

Cancelled for 2020 

 

Over 400 people attend this annual event, which is held on the third Sunday in August. In the 30 year history, the Lions Club has raised over $80,000 at this event and returned 100% back to support programs in our community. The event offers crispy, lightly battered fish, corn on the cob, garden fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, potato salad, and a dinner role. Coffee, tea and cold beverages are available. There is a huge dance floor to enjoy the live country music.

Saturday September 12, 2020 - Stone Mills Family Festival

Cancelled for 2020 

This festival is a celebration of family and community.  The event will be held in different communities throughout Stone Mills Township annually.   There is live music, dancing, food, games, events, activities, vendors, etc.   There is no admission charge for the festival, however donations are accepted at the gate.

Christmas Food Hampers

The Tamworth & District Lions Club distributes approximately 25 food hampers every Christmas to residents of Stone Mills Township.  Families are provided boxes of food, including fresh produce, bread, eggs, a turkey or ham, and gifts for children 12 and under.  Schools and business in the area collect donations of food which are distributed days before Christmas.
