Strides for Diabetes Awareness Fun Walk
Join us Saturday, April 12th, for our first ever Strides for Diabetes Awareness fun walk and learn more about diabetes. We are partnered with the Forest View Park District and will be using the track at Forest View Park. We will have representatives from the Stickney Township Health Department to answer questions about diabetes prevention and treatment, and the Lions of Illinois Foundation Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Bus will be onsite performing free screenings for diabetes related retinal diseases.
We are looking for area businesses to sponsor this event. Please share our sponsor letter and form PDF with people and businesses you frequent.
In Memoriam of Lion Bryce Hanson
It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Lion Bryce Hanson. Lion Bryce quickly became a member of our Lions family and participated in many of our activities. He was welcoming with his warm smile, a friendly hello, often wore a hat and colorful shoes. Lion Bryce enjoyed our annual Chicago Lighthouse picnic and was dedicated to our club's Queen of Hearts crew.
We will miss you, Lion Bryce.

Greater Chicago Food Depository Service Project
January is Hunger Awareness Month, and on January 23rd seven of our Club members spent the afternoon repacking pasta from bulk containers into 2 lb packages for delivery to food pantries around the area. Everyone had different tasks from scooping out the pasta from the bulk containers, to weighing the 2 lb bags, to boxing up the packages for transport. We were part of a larger group of 42 volunteers, and together we repacked 244 cases of pasta weighing 5,856 lbs or the equivalent of 4,880 meals for the needy. That adds up to 812 meals our 7 volunteers helped repack.

Stickney-Forest View Lions Food Pantry
If anyone has been looking for our Stickney-Forest View Lions Club Food Pantry, it is still located at the Forest View Village Hall. It has just been moved to the north end of the second floor. We invite the community to help keep this much needed resource stocked with non-perishable food items and hygiene products. If you should notice the pantry needs restocking, please email us at sfvlions@gmail.com. Thank you again to the Village of Forest View for hosting our pantry.
Queen of Hearts Raffle
Our Queen of Hearts raffle pot has crossed $30,000, which kicks us up into the Stage 2 prize level. General ticket winners get $100. Aces get $250. Jokers get $1,500 (and we start a new board). And the Queen of Hearts wins half the pot. Our weekly drawing is held at 7:30p every Tuesday, at Lynn Catherine’s located at 6525 W. Pershing Rd., Stickney, IL. For detailed rules click here. You can purchase tickets at Lynn Catherine's, at one of these other locations, or at our online store.
At our March 11th drawing the winning ticket belonged to the O'Halloran Family, who selected card #52 on the board, which was revealed to be the Jack of Spades.
The pot rolls over and will start at $108,500.
If you don't have Facebook you can watch the Tuesday night live stream

General Donations
If you are unable to take part in any of our current fundraising events, you are still able to make general donations through our Square store to support our causes. Programs like Camp Lions, Low Vision Clinics and Screenings, Chicago Lighthouse, Diabetes Awareness, and others are still in need of our support through donations. Locally, requests are coming in from local food pantries, assistance for eye testing, hearing testing, and other needs for our community residents. Please consider making an online donation using the link below. Thank you for your generosity.
