Hello Fellow Lions – it’s December so the Holiday Season is upon us and I hope you enjoy this season with all your family and friends!!

Looking back at the month of November as a Club we completed our fall Adopt-A-Highway cleanup on Saturday November 1st.  We had 6 members and 1 guest help with the clean- up which totaled 24 bags of trash.  Several Club Members and guests attended the 69th Annual Farm City Banquet that was held on Monday November 24th the Monday before Thanksgiving.  It’s an event I’ve started attending regularly and enjoy hearing how the farm and the community come together to exchange experiences.

We look forward to our December holiday dinner. This year it will be held at the home of Vice President, Deb Luffy, at her home at 724 Brenton Street. The date is Thursday, December 18th at 6pm. The cost will be $15.00 per person (guests are welcome) and will be added to the next dues statement. Reservations need to be made by December 12th. Please respond to this e-mail or call Bev Horn at 717-532-7484. The menu will include – ham, pasta with red sauce and meatballs, green beans, salad, garlic bread, tiramisu and assorted desserts, coffee and holiday punch.

Finally, we have secured the Messiah UM Church Fellowship Hall for our 2026 meeting dates on our regular night of the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Board Meeting:  There will not be a board meeting in December.

Membership campaign: Who do you know who would be an asset to Shippensburg Lions??

Who is interested in serving the Shippensburg community? With the pending disbanding of the Kiwanis Club, we will be the only service organization in Shippensburg. If you know members of Kiwanis, please invite them to join our Lions Club.

Mount Holly Lions are collecting hard eyeglass cases: they fill them with medical supplies such as band aids, ointment, etc. to hand out at local events in their area.  They put their club name and information on the outside of the case. Please bring to the next meeting.

Highway clean-up crew- Kathy Eddinger, Jerry Judy, Brain Beidel, Bob Creter, Deb Luffy and Bill Freeman.   Abe Luffy, Deb’s husband, also volunteered and took this photo.
