President’s message:
Hello Fellow Lions – It’s with pleasure that I come to you with my first newsletter as the new Lions Club President. I’m excited for the 2 years ahead that I get to serve as the President of the club. I feel the two areas we need to focus on are Fundraising and Membership.
As I write this it’s hard to believe we are in August already. The Shippensburg Fair and York Fair have both come to a close for the year. The York Fair was and hope to be in years to come a chance for our club to do some fundraising by scanning parking and entry tickets to the fair. Lion Galen Burkholder, Lion Ron Reed, and myself participated this year as what I believe to be the 1st year that anyone from the Shippensburg Club has helped out. $16,000 gets split against the clubs who participated so we wait to see our intake from this. I hope we can grow this in the future and for sure carpooling together helps w/ the lengthy drive.
Football season is also upon us. If you are following the Shippensburg news you will see that the School District has announced that the lights will not be ready until mid- October now. The School District has approached the Park and Rec about playing the Friday night Varsity games at the park again this year. If this is agreed to then we’ll have the concession stand again this year. We’ll have to let this play out and see what happens so don’t get your hopes up just yet……… Also don’t schedule anything for the home Friday night games yet either!!…….
Some other Lions Club upcoming events to get on your calendars would be as follows:
- Family Fun Day at Shippensburg Fair – Saturday August 9th

- WCCLP Bake Sale – Saturday August 30th
