The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 6pm at Messiah United Methodist Church. The cost of the meal will be $15.00 per person. Reservations need to be made by responding to this email by May 17th. The menu will feature Soup, sandwiches, chips and dessert. Please bring the exact cost of the meal in cash or a check made payable to - The Shippensburg Lions Club.
President’s message: Hello Fellow Lions – As I write this on a rainy April Wednesday, I hope this means that April showers bring May flowers. I look forward to getting those flowers and getting a garden planted in the month of May.
Looking back at the month of April we had our normal club meeting with another good turnout on Thursday April 16th with a great meal prepared by one of the members of the church and had a representative from Mercy House as our guest speaker that evening. We had our spring Adopt-A-Highway on Saturday April 18th with a total of 7 (4 Lions and 3guests) turn out to help with the trash collection. We had a total of 22 bags of trash and a bunch of miscellaneous other items to dispose of.
The month of May brings our normal club meeting on Thursday May 21st where Lisa Kemp will provide sliders and soup as dinner that evening. We have a packed agenda for our meeting that night with an induction of a new member, installation of officers, our students of the month, and Scott Mack from Southampton Cumberland County will give us an update on the road by-pass project.
Some upcoming Lions Club events to get on your calendars would be as follows:
• America 250 Events in Shippensburg: on June 5th –7th – Colonial Williamsburg Workshops; on June 14th – Flag Day Parade w/ Lions Club to participate;.on June 27th – Baseball Game at Memorial Park and Chicken BBQ w/ Lions Club to help serve the Chicken BBQ; on July 4th – multiple activities to be defined.
• WCCLP Golf Outing – Saturday June 20th at Eagles Crossing Golf Club
• Zone Social – Thursday June 25th at West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Co. This takes the place of our June meeting.
