Eye Screening completed in seconds with the new SPOT Vision Screening
The Lions District 16-J Charitable Foundation has been purchasing SPOT Cameras to be used in screening students in the District. The cameras are taken into the schools and the students receive vision screening at no cost to the student or the school system. During this painless procedure, the child looks into the "lens" of the camera, which displays a series of red and blue spots that scan for any problems. The club members can recommend whether someone needs to see a doctor only seconds after the brief scan.
The camera can detect nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and pupil and gaze abnormalities within seconds.
While the cameras are expensive, an effort has been made to have each club in the District raise funds to make this important screening possible. Contributions to the Foundation allows for the purchase of the devices.
