The San Diego Classic Lions Club was chartered on May 6, 2008. It was sponsored by the San Diego Mt. Pinatubo and the San Diego Majestic Lions Clubs. It belongs to Multiple District Four (California); sub-district 4-L6 (San Diego & Imperial counties). The Charter President was Lion Manuel "Manny" DeRamos. It was guided by Certified Guiding Lions Jay Ruiz Sr. and PDG Art Arboleda for two years.
In its first few years of existence, it has been a multi-awarded club already: In Lion year 2009-10, it was awarded the District 4-L6 Best Large Club, Lion Remy DeRamos was inducted into the District 4-L6 Hall of Fame and Lion Luz Galindez was the District "Lion Of the Year" during the District Convention in Ontario, CA on May 1, 2010. The club also received the "Soaring Eagle Award" as the #4 Club of the Top Ten Clubs in MD-4 (California) during the 91st MD-4 Annual State Convention held in Riverside, CA on February 5, 2010. This same Lion Year, the club received a banner patch for the Club Excellence Award and Lion Remy DeRamos received a Club President Excellence pin.
In Lion year 2010-11, PP Remy DeRamos was awarded the MD-4 Academy Awards for Lionism for the "Most New Clubs by a Member" (4) and Most New Members by a Member" (33) while Lion Luz Galindez was a nominee for the MD-4 "Lion of the Year" during the 92nd MD-4 Annual State Convention held in Primm, Nevada last February 5, 2011.
In LY 2011-12, during the District Convention in Laughlin, Nevada (May 5, 2012) the club was awarded the Best Medium Club by DG Brad Weeks.
For Lionistic Year 2012-13, charter president, Manny DeRamos accepted the leadership again and became the club president.
