Lions have been a part of the Australian community since 1947.
The Queenscliff - Point Lonsdale Lions Club was chartered on the 12th of June, 1961 is a mixed Club with both male and female members and is a proud part of the Queenscliff; Point Lonsdale and Marcus Hill communities.
The Club is actively involved in community work within the Borough of Queenscliffe, and distributing more than $100,000 in recent years (2009 - 2020) to charities, welfare and community groups.
Our club extends a warm welcome to visitors to our Club Website. Lions of the Queenscliff - Point Lonsdale Lions Club are members of Lions Clubs International, a community service organisation dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why.
Fellowship, good times, meeting people, building friendships, service to the community, learning new skills, leadership and personal development - these are just some of the benefits of being a member of the largest service club in the world.
The site of the township of Queenscliff has been known to Europeans since the discovery of Port Phillip by A/g Lieut, John Murray in 1802 and the visit by Mathew Flinders shortly after, but the only recorded early landing on the town site was by scientists from Flinders party.
European settlement dates back to 1838 when George Tobin built huts on the beach and began pilot operations with a whale boat and four men.
The early origins of Point Lonsdale date back to 1863 when the first lighthouse for mariners was erected with the area now occupied by the township was established as a battery reserve used in the defence of the then young colony.
Today, both towns host a small permanent populations, with fishing and tourism the key industries, yet both town's play host to many visitors from intrastate, interstate and overseas. Indeed both Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale are popular with many Melbournian's and people from other towns and cities who have established holiday homes.
While Queenscliff is the terminus of the Bellarine Highway (B110) a scheduled daily passenger / vehicle ferries provides a link to the Mornington Peninsula township of Sorrento offering visitors the opportunity to circumnavigate Port Phillip Bay.
The Bellarine Peninsula Tourist Railway a narrow gauge railway which operates frequent services between the towns of Queenscliff and Drysdale is a very popular tourist attraction.

Lion's club members do not serve others in order to receive rewards. Their reward lies in the satisfaction of helping others in need and in improving the life of others in the community who are less fortunate than themselves.
