VISION
A SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS
ENVIRONMENT
Subsequent to planting of the Poui Trees mulch was applied by our members, appropriately on September 11, 2020 - Rebirth and Regrowth - to the Poui Trees planted on the Maraval Parkway on August 29th, 2020. Present were Club President Lion Carla Raphael, Service Chairperson Lion Kirton Huggins and Project Coordinator Lion Terence Inniss.

Senior Citizens Luncheon
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central hosted their Annual Senior Citizens Luncheon on Sunday 5th January, 2020. Seniors were treated to a day of Dancing, Carolling and tokens.
Grant-a-Wish/Santa Claus Parade
Members of the Lions Club of Port of Spain Central assisted with the Grant-a-Wish Santa Claus Parade which took place today Sunday 17th November, 2019 around the Queens Park Savannah. The Club sponsored children from the Lady Hochoy and “Each one Teach one” Homes.
VISION/World Sight Day
Members of the Lions Club of Port of Spain Central at the “World Sight Day Walk for Sight” awareness walk today Sunday 13th October, 2019. The theme for this year is Vision First!
Environmental Project
On Saturday 28th September, 2019 the Lions Club of Port of Spain Central in collaboration with His Worship, the Mayor of Port of Spain, Alderman Joel Martinez, conducted a tree planting exercise at Cipriani Boulevard as well as at the Maraval Parkway. Poui tress of various colours were planted in key areas in both locations.
This initiative is in alignment with the focus area of environment as highlighted by Lions Clubs International. The vision is that once matured and in bloom these trees will not only be a lovely attraction, but will also assist in the reduction of the City’s carbon footprint.

"Down the Wishing Well" A TEA PARTY WITH A DIFFERENCE SEPTEMBER 16, 2018
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central collaborated with the Grant-a-Wish Foundation to raise funds towards the granting of wishes for terminally ill children by hosting a Tea Party which included bouncy castles, renditions from the Opera and other performances. Funds raised were shared with the Club, all funds go towards assisting the less fortunate in society.

WINE AND CHEESE
Our third (3rd) Annual Wine & Cheese Evening took place on Saturday 20th, October at Jaffa at the Oval. Persons were treated to delightful wines, scrumptious cheeses and appetising h'ordeuvres. Entertainment was provided by Mikhail Salcedo (Pannist), and Marie Carter (Singer). 100% of the proceeds raised from this project goes towards assisting those less fortunate in society.

AID TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO FLOOD VICTIMS - OCTOBER 2018
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central assisted the flood victims of Sangre Grande through contact made with the Lion Trevor Paul, President of the Sangre Grande Lions Club. A list of items were received from Lion Paul, circulated and subsequently collected and sent to the Sangre Grande via transportation provided by the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force. Items were collected over a three day period starting from Monday 29th October to Wednesday 31st October 2018. A stove, mattresses, toiletries, food, drinking water, cleaning supplies, school supplies and shoes were collected. Items were also collected from the Surinamese contingent that attended the 30th Multiple District 60 Conference held in Trinidad.

MULTIPLE DISTRICT 60 DIABETES SERVICE PROJECT - NOVEMBER 2018
The Multiple District 60 conducted a Diabetes Service Project during the 30th Mid Year Conference held in Trinidad, November 1st to 3rd, 2018. The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central contributed financially towards the purchase of four Multi Care Analyzer Systems to be donated to the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago. These machines will subsequently be distributed throughout Trinidad and Tobago and used to conduct testing on the population. The 60 A District Associate for Diabetes Awareness and Action Lion Lisa Atwater made the presentations to the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago representative in Princes Town.

FESTIVAL OF CAROLS
This is the 29th Annual instalment of the Club’s Signature Event held on Friday 16th November at the Lions Cultural Centre. This year's Festival of Carols paid tribute to the late Lion Gillian Henry, also present was the daughter of pioneer of the event; Lion Leon Leacock as well as Lion Dennis Robertson. Eight (8) Primary Schools from the Club's Charter area participated in the Festival of Carols. They are as follows: Moulton Hall Methodist Primary School, Belmont Boys Roman Catholic Primary School, Belmont Girls Roman Catholic Primary School, Sacred Heart Boys Roman Catholic Primary School, St. Crispin’s Anglican Primary School, St. Rose’s Girls Roman Catholic Primary School, Newtown Girls Roman Catholic Primary School. Musical entertainment was provided by Goodwill Steel Band with a special performance by the Children from the University of the West Indies Preparatory School. Participating Schools received a Certificate of Participation, Plaque of Appreciation and a Cheque in the sum of $1000.00 (to be used for the purchase of musical equipment for the school) each student also received a bookmark for participation.

ANNUAL GRANT-A-WISH SANTA CLAUS PARADE
The Annual Grant-A-Wish Santa Claus Parade took place on Sunday 18th November. The Club sponsored and chaperoned children from the Princess Elizabeth Home, Lady Hochoy Home and Cyril Ross Nursery in the Parade. The Sponsored Children wore costumes such as a star and candy cane stipes, they received tickets for treats such as pizza, popcorn, hotdogs as well as a bouncy castle and slides. This year children were treated to a display of horseback riders from the Police Mounted Branch and theatrical performances with characters in costumes. The Parade began at Holy Name Convent, Port of Spain and ended at the Queen's Park Savannah opposite Whitehall.

ANNUAL CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY
On Saturday 8th December the Club hosted its Annual Christmas Party with the theme “Back Yard Lime” This event was held at the Lions Cultural Centre. An enjoyable time was had by all with a buffet style offering of hops and ham, fruit cake squares, pastelle-in-a-cup, and drumsticks with a sorrel reduction. The Bar was all inclusive with Seasonal drinks such as Ginger Beer, Pounche de Crème and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including Wines. Entertainment was provided by the Fire Service Band Lead Singer.

SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCHEON
In January 2019, the Senior Citizens from the St. Andrews Home, Finbar Ryan Home, Nazareth House, Audrey Molino Home and the Tricia Home were all invited to this Luncheon hosted by the Club. Members of these homes are treated to a Festive Christmas Meal, entertainment and gift bags containing toiletries including hand towels. Lion members danced and sang with the Seniors encouraging them to act as young as they feel.

DIABETES TRAINING TESTING USING THE HBA1c MACHINES/AWARENESS
In January, 2019 Clubs in Multiple District 60 Contributed financially towards the purchase of HBA1c Diabetes Testing Machines, these machines were purchased from Physician Pharmaceuticals Limited. Coming out of that, Lions were subsequently trained by members of the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago and Physician Pharmaceuticals Limited. Present at the Launch of the Training Session was the 1st Vice President of Lions Clubs International Dr. Choi and Council Chairperson Lion Sherwin Greenidge.

DISTRIBUTION OF HAMPERS
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central in collaboration with the Sea Front, Diego Martin West, Success Laventille and Belmont Lions Clubs donated 12 hampers to the Just Because Foundation to be distributed to Children afflicted with Cancer. This was done on Friday 15th February, 2019 to commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day.

3 Members of the Lions Club of Port of Spain Central attended the Testing and Training session held on Saturday 9th February, 2019. Zone 3 A Chairperson Lion Jacqueline Newallo-Christian, District Associate for Sight Preservation, Awareness and Action and Multiple District 60 ICT/ Marketing and Communication Chairperson Carla Raphael. This is as a result of the Multiple District 60 Conference held in November 2018 1st to 3rd.

DONATION OF FOOD HAMPERS - FEBRUARY 2019
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central distributed 10 food hampers to the Lady Hochoy, Princess Elizabeth Homes as well as Goodwill Industries which caters toeducating and housing of Special needs and disabled children.

CONTRIBUTION TO CHILDREN - MARCH 2019
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central collaborated with EnToTo in the distribution of Stationery Kits to over 5000 Primary School students from throughout Trinidad and Tobago at the Lions Cultural Centre. These students are in preparation for the Secondary Entrance Assessment examination. Lion Carla Raphael represented the Club on the day of the Distribution.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT - APRIL 2019
The Lions Club of Port of Spain Central hosted a day of fun and activities on Saturday 27th April, 2019 for children from the Cyril Ross Home - for HIV positive Children, St. Dominic's Home - for abused children and Each One Teach One - a group for children from the Beetham Estate. A total of 47 Children attended along with 11 care givers. This event takes place at the Coast Guard Base in Chaguaramas where they are treated to a puppet show, swimming with Life Guards, cricket along with eats and drinks.

HEALTH FAIR - JUNE 2019
Lion Carla Raphael, Secretary of the Lions Club of Port of Spain took part in the Health Fair hosted by the Lions Club of Diego Martin West at the Valley Harps Pan Yard. Assistance was rendered by conducting the HbA1C Diabetes Test on attendees at a cost of $60.00 per test. All proceeds go towards the Diego Martin West Lions Club to be used to assist members of the society in need. By conducting these tests at the Health Fair, level 2 training in the use of the machine was completed.

They are as follows: St.Dominic's Children's Home, Gaines Normal A.M.E Primary School, Newtown Boys R.C Primary School, Moulton Hall Methodist Primary School, St. Ursula's Girls Primary School, Sacred Heart Boys Primary School, St Margaret's Boys A.C Primary School and Belmont Boys Primary School.Musical entertainment was also provided by Goodwill Steelband. Participating Schools received a Certificate of Participation, Plaque of Appreciation, Cheque of $1500.00(to be used for the purchase of musical equipment for the school) with each student receiving a bookmark for participation.

The children were treated to theatrical performaces, characters in costumes and cheerleading performance.

ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY
This year's Annual Children's Christmas Party took place at the Gaines Normal A.M.E Primary School, on Friday 8th December, 2017. Festivities began at 10:30 am with the arrival of Santa Claus who presented gifts to the children. The children were also entertained with the bouncy castle and face painting. Light snacks of hot dogs, snowcone, cotton candy, ice cream and soft drinks were also provided to the children. Many of the students were interested in Lionism and what is Lions all about. 161 students were catered for at this event.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
On Saturday 9th December, 2017 the Club hosted its Annual Christmas Party in collaboration with the Lions Club of Diego Martin West. This event was held at the Lions Cultural Centre. An enjoyable time was had by all with lots of food , drink and entertainment by Los Vikingos de San Jose (Parang Group) and Dexter Theophile (Singer). This is the third (3rd) year that both clubs have collaborated to host this event.
SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCHEON
The Club held its annual Senior Citizens Luncheon on Saturday 6th Januray, 2018. Homes from Port of Spain and the Trincity area attended. Guests were entertained with DJ Music and a performance from Calypsonian Skatie. The senior citizens were treated to a full course meal inclusive of desert and icecream. A great time was had by all.

LEGACY PROJECT
This project is the construction of a playground at the Bethlehem's Boys School. This playground has activities which targets core motor skills with the aim to improve focus and alertness in the classroom. Studies have shown that the more children play the better they learn. The playground will also provide a space for children to explore and express themselves in safe and healthy environment.
