Lions In Action

Going on 50 years, the Killingworth Lions have been a responsible and dependable club devoted to making a positive difference in the community it serves.  This club comprised of fifty-four caring volunteers determined to fight hunger and help those who are struggling due to health, personal or family hardships. Their signature fundraisers donate back to the community every dollar and item they collect.  Their members empower each other in ways no one person could do alone. Their mission is to reach and serve the greater population and quickly respond to individuals who need their help on a moment’s notice.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic your Killingworth Lions have been collecting food and monetary donations at the transfer station for the Helping Hands Food Pantry and the HK Backpack Program using all safety precautions.  Close to 70 bags of food were picked up from ShopRite in Clinton by Lions members (Many thanks to Amy Leahy of ShopRite for putting together these special bags of non-perishables) and delivered them throughout the town.  A thank you must also go out to Mercedes Riccuiti, Killingworth’s Municipal Agent and Helping Hands Pantry Chairperson, and to Amber Stamm the guiding light for the HK Backpack program. Many thanks to the group of Lions who volunteered countless hours of time planning and fulfilling the immediate needs of the town’s food pantry and the HK Backpack program.

The Lions would like to extend their gratitude to all those who have contributed to these important and vital causes during this unprecedented challenging time that our community and the world is facing today. The Lions collected both food and monetary donations up to April 11th and continuing efforts will be based on the needs of the community throughout May and June. If you would like to continue donating grocery store gift cards or checks, please make them out to Killingworth Lions Charities, Inc. and mail them to Killingworth Lions Club, PO Box 680, Killingworth, CT 06419 or to make an online monetary contribution, click the DONATE button below.

Wishing you good health and peace of mind during these difficult times.

Thank you for your continued support!
