Kendal & District Lions Charity Book Sale
at Elephant Yard, Kendal
Kendal & District Lions have been running their charity book sale at Elephant Yard, Kendal, for a year now and it has grown from strength to strength! Open 10am-4pm on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as recently extending our hours by opening Wednesday, 9.30am-1.30pm.
(Lion President Malcolm with Cllr Chris Hogg, Mayor of Kendal. 08.08.15)
We have a wide selection of used books starting at £1.00 each, with children's book as little as 50p, as well as DVDs and CDs.
Over the past year, your generosity has helped us to raise over £4000 to help local charities, as well as those a little further a field.
In the wake of Storm Desmond, which hit Kendal in December 2015, £2,700 of monies raised in the book shop has gone towards helping flood victims, whether that be through providing cleaning materials, assistance in the clear up or floodsax as defences for the future.
We also continue to support local charitable causes, donating over £600 to individuals and organisations in the Kendal area.
On an international stage, we have also donated book shop funds to Lion Club's International in their operations following the Nepal earthquake, helping them to support the surviours with shelter and clean water.
The book sale continues Wednesday, at 9.30am. We welcome donations of used and unwanted books. If you have any that you'd like to donate, you can bring them to the shop during opening hours or contact us via 0845 833 9536.
Our thanks to all of you who continue to support his event, in particular to Peter Boyd and his team at Elephant Yard Shopping Centre for their continued goodwill and kind permission to use the unit, and to Lakeland Radio for promoting the book shop on air.
