Greetings Lions & Friends,

As we roar into Thanksgiving, I want to start with how grateful I am for all our members, and for all the love and support you all give!  Thank you for attending meetings, board meetings, for signing up to serve, for new ideas for projects, chairing & leading projects, and for all you give all year to this club and beyond.

I am truly blessed and honored to be a part of the Huntington Beach Lions.  I am thankful for all I have learned from everyone and how I, and this club continue to grow. I am grateful to all we serve, and the friendships we have made along the way. It sure feels good giving, serving and collaborating with our community, and doing it with our Lions family.

It was an honor to have our District Governor & his team at our general meeting on October 6th. We were able to hear what is happening in the district and to know we have the districts full support. They inspired and challenged us as a club to discover our potential and come up with some new ideas for projects. I am thankful to have this district team in my year!  I want to thank our District Governor, Craig Durand, and his team. 1st Vice District Governor (VDG), Drew Sassor, 2nd VDG Scott Quinlan and Zone Chair Stan Sarkauskas for visiting our club and for their inspiration.

Our 2nd general meeting was led by VP Ryan Walters.  Thank you, Ryan for conducting the meeting and for stepping up when our guest speaker had to cancel at the last minute. I hope you all enjoyed Ryan’s song & dance moves, LOL. Thank you also to all that attended the meeting and supporting the club.

We had a great turnout for the Halloween City Breakfast at City Hall. There was great food and a Halloween costume contest! Thank you to all our city employees and first responders. Thank you, Lion Steve Christy for leading this event.  This is the HB Lions way of giving!

What fun was had helping and supporting The Ronald McDonald House OC Trunk or Treat. Three cars were all decorated, and Lions and Leos passed out lots of treats to all the kids & families making for a safe and Happy Halloween! Thank you, Lion Liz Kelder for leading this event.

We have the best district meetings, and our 2nd quarter meeting didn’t disappoint! So much fun, including a costume contest, a haunted house and live band! A great time was had, seeing and visiting with all the Lions from our district.  We were able to learn how other clubs in our district are serving their communities.  All members are welcome to the district meeting, so we hope to see more Huntington Beach Lions at the next one!

I am proud to announce that Huntington Beach Host Lions received an EXELLENCE IN SERVICE AWARD for uplifting and service to our youth in the first Quarter!  Thank you to all that contributed and raised money for The Steppingstone Mission which provides school supplies in Romania and for all the youth we serve.

Finally, I want to challenge any one of you to come up with a new service project to extend our hands in service.  There is still time to pull something together for the 2nd Quarter.  Don’t forget, the district focus is on our Military, Veterans and First responders!  I welcome any and all ideas.

Have a wonderful month of November and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Proud to be a Huntington Beach Lion,

Lion Janet Price
