every cent of money raised is returned to the community
Our main fundraiser is our twice yearly Garage Sale. It is a big undertaking which apart from the organising of signs and publicity, takes two days - one day for set up and one day for the actual sale and pack down. We are fortunate that we are helped by students from local Colleges and friends and family of Lions.
Iconic CHRISTMAS CAKES
great for friends and family, or that corporate gift
Every year the production team of Hillcrest Lions come together to ice, decorate, wrap and deliver the traditional Christmas Cakes. 2022 saw new packaging and branding, but the moist, rich and fruity cake is the same favourite it has been since 1971.
Available in either a boxed (un-iced) 1kg, or 250gm iced, hand-decorated and cello-wrapped.
(No minimum order when you buy through Hillcrest Lions).
During the year our dedicated team of two, Lions Reinhold and Tom, (together with any help they can get), source, chop, stack and deliver firewood. In the early 2023 weather events their log splitter tumbled away in a land slip, however, it wasn't long before they were back in business providing wood in good time for winter deliveries.

Sausage Sizzles are a hit with the local shoppers at Bunnings Glenfield on various Saturdays throughout the year, and with less and less cash being carried, the advent of the QR code has ensured our fundraising is doing well for the local community.
An annual sell-out event is the Ballentynes Fashion Parade fundraiser where our own luscious Lions strut their stuff on the cat-walk. Huge thanks go to Ballentynes Fashion Central in Albany for hosting the event, and to those members of the public, friends and family who attend and spend generously.
We help other Charities by manning their tables on their annual collection day. e.g. Daffodil Day, Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, Arthritis NZ, Low Vision NZ (formerly the Blind Foundation), Pink Ribbon and Dementia NZ.
Recently we gave:
$10,000 to the Starship PICU appeal... The Starship Foundation is raising funds for an expansion of their PICU rooms. Warkworth Lions Club on behalf of the clubs in District K is spearheading a fundraising drive to raise $406,700 for a complete PICU cubicle on behalf of Lions Clubs of New Zealand. Hillcrest Lions is fundraising to contribute to this great cause.
$1,000 to Karori Lions Club for their national fundraiser for the Spirit of Adventure project.
$1,000 to the National Foundation for the Deaf to assist deaf people in the workplace.
$1,000 to the NZ Suicide prevention Trust
$300 to Going Bananas Show insupport of brain injured children
Over the years we have made many donations to many charities and causes.
