Young Speechmaker

The Lions Clubs of New Zealand offer youth from 16 to 21 years of age (as at 1 December in the year of the competition), the opportunity to participate in a national public speaking contest. 

Entry is free to the contestants and open to the public through your local Lions Club. Generally there will be at least a District contest with the winners coming forward to the National Final held in August each year.

"Lions Vickie, Heather F, Marlene, Jackie and myself visited Papakura today to support our entrants in the Young Speechmaker Competition. 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝. Isabella spoke on leadership from a Māori and Pakeha point of view and Kirsten on corruption in a country and to keep ourselves aware in this country. Congratulations girls. The National Finals will take place in Palmerston North on Saturday 13th August 2022.
