CLUB   PROJECTS

The Gympie South Lions group is involved in many and varied projects from raising funds at events to helping remove rubbish after floods and picking mangoes to send to rural drought declared areas to feed to their stock.

Our major fundraiser each year has been through our contracted work with the Gympie Music Muster. For many years we had managed all the alcohol distributions at the Muster as well as manning the Hilltop Bar. In 2023 this changed and we manned 2 bars - the Muster Club Bar which runs for 9 days and the Hilltop Bar which runs for the 4 Muster days. It is a lot of person hours but along with that goes teamwork and comradary.

During the later part of 2023 we have been managing the main gate at the Gympie Race meeting each month. This is a great day out.

Throughout the run we run lucky wheel spins at Mary St party events. At each wheel we dedicate the funds raised to a worthy local group, all funds from this local project stays in the local area. Some of the past recipients have been Gympie flood disaster relief; supporting feeding local homeless; Gympie's Little Haven Pallaitive Care; Gympie Medical Transport; Headspace Gympie; Gympie Community Bus; Gympie school chapliancy program and the list goes on.

During November and December we sell Lions Christmas Cakes and Puddings in local shopping centres as well as having some other stores around Gympie as selling outlets on the club's behalf. We are very grateful to these businesses for their continued support. All year round local businesses are also outlets for the sale of Lion's mints.

Lions isn't all about raising funds for projects but also about supporting and encouraging others.

The Lions Youth of the Year is such a project. Early each year we run this and this highlights the local youth. It encourages their public speaking, presentation and confidence. It always inspires our generation when we see the shinning abilities of our local youth.

As you read on you will see more detail about each of these projects.

MUSTER

Each year Gympie South Lions work at the Gympie Music Muste. Many of our family and friends come on board to provide extra person power for the hugh undertaking. We are very grateful for their continued support and effort.
