Lion club meeting 6-01-21

Meeting was officiated by President David Merritt.  Lion Lindel Silvertooth gave us a prayer.

In attendance was Darrell, Ellen, Sharon, Lindel, Rob, David and Kathy.

Treasurer Rob informed us that the new dues statements were sent out.  He commented that it was helpful if the member would pay yearly.

The June 21 meeting will be at Sayer Park.  The gazebo has been reserved for us for our annual picnic. The picnic will begin a 6:00. Please RSVP Lion Kathy at mkwren2002@mail.com the club will provide the meat dish—pulled pork sandwiches.  Please bring a side for the dinner.  Plenty to share with everyone. We have invited District Governor Paul Steinfort and JoAnn Steinfort along with Harry Garner our Zone chairman.  If you have any ideas for entertainment, please give President David a call. Any additional ideas will be appreciated. 

  1. July 1st will be the first movie night for the Glenwood Springs. The theme for the season is 90’s movies.  We voted on selling popcorn and water for this project.  Kathy Wren ordered popcorn in a tube for the project, we will check water bottle prices.  Thinking to charge $5.00 for the combination.  Nettie from the public health department said we will be able to do without a permit. We will need a couple microwaves for this project, Kathy and Sharon have microwaves available for this project.  Everyone thought the first night as many Lions club member should come to the movie night. Remember to bring a chair!! I will send out a sign-up sheet, for sign up. We need to have our set up by 6:30. Hope to see all our happy faces that evening.
  2. July 4 is our annual 4k FireKracker Race.  The race is scheduled on July 4th 7:00 for day of registration.  The posters are made and ready to be hung up.  Please contact Kathy for posters.  On July 3rd registration is also scheduled for early registration.  David will have a card reader available for the 3rd and 4th.Rob will have the beginning race set up and will need help with this, Lindel and Gary volunteered to assist Rob.Margie will be doing the food prep, Kathy and Sharon will assist her preparing the fruit.Kathy will have an igloo water cooler for the end of the line.We will need and someone to be at the turn around. There will be a table and trashcan available for this as well. I have reached out to Ken and Kathy hopefully they will be able to help us again. The chore list will be sent out june 25 so we can make sure all bases have been covered.
  3. The city is hosting the triple crown baseball games in Glenwood Springs.  The date for this tournament will be July 20-25.  We will have to talk about the concessions we would like to sell.  I have a small chest freezer so we can sell ice cream type treats—anything that is premade. More information from Patrick will be coming.
