Monthly – Eyeglass Collection & Recycling
The Flatonia Lions Club participates in the “Lions Recycle for Sight Program” sponsored by Lions Club International. The goal of the program is to provide life changing sight enhancement to those in need. The program involves the collection of used eyeglasses from area providers and delivery of the glasses to regional Recycling Centers. Success is achieved through the tremendous support shown by the Fayette County businesses and residents.

September - Fayette County Fair
The Fayette County Fair is held annually over the Labor Day weekend and the Flatonia Lions Club is there to help make the event a success. The Club is tasked to provide Entry Gate Access to the Fairgrounds and is compensated for the effort. Imagine that, getting paid to go to the Fair!

October - Drug Awareness Month
The Flatonia Lions Club and LCIF, partner with the Flatonia Independent School District to promote Safe and Drug Free Schools. The Club orders and distributes ribbons to the students indicating our total commitment to a drug free environment. We are well aware that the future of our community is standing behind those ribbons.
OUR CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE!!!!
October - Czhilispiel Pie Contest & Auction
The Czhilispiel Pie Contest and Auction is the primary funding venue for the Club’s Scholarship Awards. The scholarships are awarded to meritorious seniors graduating from Flatonia High School and seeking higher education opportunities. This popular event draws participants from all over Fayette County. Held over the Flatonia “Czhilispiel “ weekend (fourth full weekend in October) the event features a pie baking contest, then a subsequent sale of those pies.

December - Christmas Lights Judging Contest
The Flatonia Lions Club provides the community service of judging and awarding the year’s most unique Christmas Lighting, as exhibited by the area’s homes and businesses. Taking a cue from Ole’ Saint Nick himself, Lions steal into the night and place award recognition signs at the worthy locations. The event is anticipated and is a fun topic of discussion for the whole town!
