ORGANIZATIONS AND PROGRAMS WE SUPPORT
CANINE COMPANIONS FOR INDEPENDENCE (CCI) – The Flatonia Lions Club provides monetary support to CCI. Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. Headquartered in Santa Rosa, CA, CCI is the largest non-profit provider of assistance dogs, and is recognized worldwide for the excellence of its dogs, and the quality and longevity of the matches it makes between dogs and people. The result is a life full of increased independence and loving companionship.
CELEBRATION HOUSE- The Flatonia Lions Club provides monetary support to the local food pantry operating as Celebration House. Celebration House is non-profit company providing meals and groceries to Flatonia area resident’s in-need. The Company is a Partner Agency of the Austin based, Capital Area Food Bank.
FLATONIA FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA (FFA) – The Flatonia Lions Club contributes to the Flatonia FFA in support of efforts promoting agricultural education. The Flatonia FFA is under the National FFA Organization and operates through a Federal Congressional Charter. The mission of the FFA is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
FLATONIA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT - Working through the FISD Administration, the Flatonia Lions Club provides meritorious local youth with scholarships to be used toward fulfilling higher education opportunities.
LEADER DOGS FOR THE BLIND – The Flatonia Lions Club provides monetary support to this Not For Profit Organization. Leader Dogs was founded in 1939 and provides dog guides to the blind and visually impaired. The ultimate goal of the Organization is to enhance the mobility, independence and quality of life for those visually affected. The guide dog services are provided free of charge, including room and board and travel to and from its Rochester Hills , Michigan campus.
MICHAEL GENE SCHULZE /FLATONIA LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND (Fund) – The Club provides monetary support to augment the Fund endowment. The Fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors of Flatonia ISD to attend college or trade schools. Eligible students demonstrate high academic achievement, and involvement in both academic and athletic extra-curricular activities. Additionally, the recipients have been challenged and progressed through unique hardships.
TEXAS LIONS CAMP (Camp) – The Club provides monetary support to the Texas Lions Camp. The Camp is a recognized non-profit corporation, established under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code with its primary purpose to provide, without charge, a camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired, and diabetic children from the State of Texas. Campers learn a “Can Do” philosophy and are allowed to achieve maximum personal growth and self-esteem. Located in scenic Kerrville Texas, the Camp serves over 1,500 children per summer. Besides being a financial contributor, the Club is also a proud sponsor of local children to attend and take advantage of the Camp’s amenities.
