Figtree Lions 60th Anniversary:
Lion Keith has reminded all Figtree Lions that the club will celebrate its 60th Anniversary in April 2025 - just eight months away. We should start thinking about the best way to. celebrate this significant milestone. As Keith pointed out, other clubs are marking similar significant events by showing their respects to the people and the achievements, over previous years. They have taken the opportunity to "enjoy and CELEBRATE this milestone with an eye on the future [and] to build stronger relationships with other community groups."
It's time for us to begin organising what we should do to mark a significant milestone for our enduring Club. Ideas, suggestions, organising volunteers please contact Keith.
Community Needs Fund
(From Lion Peter Brown)
At our last Dinner meeting the Board agreed to increase the monthly Community Needs Fund amount from $150 to $200 each month.
With this in mind members are reminded about the purpose of the fund and how you can help by identifying people or local organisations who would benefit from such a donation.
Lion Keith was first off the mark when he discovered that Ronald McDonald House, a charity enabling parents of sick children to stay near the Hospital, was in need of cooking items which we then purchased with our fund.
Since then we have made donations to Orange Sky, St Marks Church, Manna House, Salvation Army, Hope Street and Wollongong Zonta Club for birthing packs - just to name a few.
Therefore, have a think about people or organisations you may know who would benefit from such a donation and let me know.
Coordinator: Peter Brown

April 2024 - Report on the service work completed in the Community Garden at Unanderra Library for the Illawarra Quota Club. Many 'engineers' were involved in the construction and filling of two raised garden beds, with ensuing chaos! Major fundraising event of the month was at the Illawarra Brick Show, on behalf of KidsWish - adding about $7,000 to their funds from the sale of food and drinks. The Charity Golf Day is nearing in the calendar and bookings are strong - as are prize donations from our generous sponsors. There's still time to book in as an individual or team.
