SPOTLIGHT ON VISION & HEARING FOR CHILDREN - 2024
The Fairfield Glade Lions perform vision and hearing screening programs for each of the elementary schools in Cumberland County. These services are provided at no cost by the this Lions club. To date we have tested 903 elementary students in 7 schools resulting in 103 vision referrals (11.4%). In addition, 31 students were referred for color deficiencies in their eyesight.
Fairfield Glade Lions via the KidSight program provides vision screening for children ages 12 months to 72 months of age. To date 429 children have been screened resulting in 38 referrals (8.9%).
The Fairfield Glade Lions are proud to serve our community in efforts to enhance the lives of our children. In many cases the Lions Club provides financial assistance to help children with vision exams and eyeglasses. We are grateful for the support the community has shown us in our fund-raising activities.
Volunteer Opportunity: Whether you are a LION now or have interest in what we do in service to our community, perhaps you have a couple hours to help with our biggest service projects.
We are needing volunteers to join us at various schools around the county to perform simple vision and hearing screenings on the students. Reach out to Lion Rick Borghi (vision) at: sborghi2006@jps.net or Clark Zedric (hearing) at clarkzedric@aol.com for more information.
The Fairfield Glade Lions Club was chartered on March 22, 1976 and has grown to be one of the most active and largest clubs in Tennessee. The Lion’s Club motto is: “We serve.” We take that motto seriously.
We welcome you to join one of our dinner meetings, held on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM to meet us and learn how to get involved while making new friends.
