The Emporia Lions Club was organized June 6, 1921 and the charter was issued on October 26, 1921. Following the Lions motto, "We serve", the club serves and contributes to the Emporia community as illustrated in the activities and projects listed on this website.
Eleven members have been recognized as Melvin Jones Fellows, the highest award that can be given to an individual Lion.
Past Community Projects:
- Redbud tree distribution
- Vision tester for Lyon County Health Department
- Support SightFirst and SightFirst II campaigns
- Built two cages at Emporia Zoo
- Provided shelter house roof at Camp Alexander
- Contributed to United Way charities
- Sold brooms and light bulbs to fund community projects
- Contributed to Girl Scout building project
- Donated an exhibit case to Emporia Public Library
- Hosted state convention
- Supported county-wide polio immunizations

- Emporia Zoo Christmas lighting ceremony
