Our Club HISTORY

Detroit (EDAC) Lions Club was Founded and Chartered on June 22, 2015 by Lion René Allen and twenty-three (23) Detroiters who serve in Leadership positions in their Community, and who all have a big  HEART for Lionism.  Our Lions Club was Sponsored by Greater Metro Detroit Lions Club (GMD), in which Lion René Allen was Membership Chairperson from 2013-2015. The Immediate Past President of GMD, Deborah Love, is Detroit (EDAC) Lions Club's Guiding Lion, along with Immediate Past District Governor, Martin Malone.

In August 2015, two more Charter-Founding Members joined us, bringing our Membership total to twenty-six (26).  After which, during the month of September 2015 three more Charter-Founding Members also joined us, bringing our Membership total to twenty-nine (29).  Due to the strong interest in our Lions Club, during the Spring of 2016 we will be adding more upstanding Mentors & Leaders from our Community as NEW Members to Detroit (EDAC) Lions Club!

Our Special Interest Lions Club focuses on the area of ARTS & CULTURE.  Our acronym, "EDAC" stands for "Emerging Detroit Arts & Culture" Lions Club.  Our city is full of history, and Detroiters who are gifted and talented.  We seek to continually uplift the Arts & Culture of our city and surrounding areas, as well as inspire and motivate those individuals who have gifts and talents to share with the world.  Our twenty-nine (29) CHARTER-FOUNDING MEMBERS [Alphabetical Order]:
