Detroit (EDAC) Lions Club is a CHARTERED Lions Club that was formed to focus on the Special Interest area of ARTS & CULTURE. "EDAC" stands for "Emerging Detroit Arts & Culture" Lions Club. We CHARTERED on June 22nd, 2015, and we currently have 29 CHARTER-FOUNDING MEMBERS. We are still rapidly growing, as we continue to attract interest from individuals, organizations, businesses, the Community, and the city at large.
Our Centennial Charter Party took place on November 14th, 2015. We had a wonderful celebration which included the signing of our Scroll, the pinning of our Charter-Founding Members, Inductions, and official Detroit (EDAC) Lions Club Certificates for each Charter-Founding Member.
We've since attracted more interest in our Lions Club, and we are expecting to add more new Members with strong Leadership ability to our Lions Club during the Spring of 2016.
We are excited about what Detroit (EDAC) Lions Club will bring forth as we put a spotlight on the area of ARTS & CULTURE. We also look forward to inspiring, uplifting, and motivating individuals with gifts and talents related to the special interest area that our Lions Club serves. If you have a love for the Arts & Culture of Detroit, and would like to wholeheartedly bring out the best of what your community and your city has to offer, then you are welcomed to join our Lions Club!

WHAT DO LIONS DO?
Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief - to serve their community.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization. We have over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs worldwide in more than 210 countries and geographic areas.
Lions have a dynamic history. Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects - including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
Lions give sight. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. We have extended our commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through our international SightFirst Program, which works to eradicate blindness.
Lions serve youth. Our Community Arts & Culture Projects often support local children and schools through Arts & Culture Workshops and Classes, as well as Scholarships, recreation and mentoring. Internationally, we offer many programs, including the Peace Poster Contest, Find out more: Sponsor a Peace Poster Contest! Lions also have Youth Camps, Exchange and Lions Quest.
Our Leo Program provides the youth of the world with an opportunity for personal development through volunteering. There are approximately 166,000 Leos and 6,600 Leo clubs in more than 145 countries worldwide.
Lions award grants. Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than US$826 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world.
Lions help during disasters. Together, our Foundation and Lions are helping communities following natural disasters by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies – and aiding in long-term reconstruction.
Lions are active. Our motto is "We Serve." Lions are part of a global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our local communities.
