DEADLINE

Parade application must be received on or before June 18th, 2023.

FEES

All units will pay a $50 entrance fee.  Exempt from this policy are visiting royalty floats and bands.  If you are requesting a fee to participate in the Coon Rapids parade, please indicate so on your parade application.  There is a very limited budget for paid units.  The parade committee will consider your request and contact you upon receipt of the entry form.  Make checks payable to “Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club”.  All fees must accompany application.  Line-up numbers will not be provided until a paypal payment is made or a check is received.

INSURANCE

The Coon Rapids parade committee requires proof of liability insurance before a motorized vehicle will be allowed in the parade.  Please include current insurance information with your parade application or sign and return the Parade Waiver Agreement.   This waiver will be for your entire group, it is not necessary to do one for each individual participating in your unit.

ACCEPTANCE

To be considered for acceptance in the parade, all units will need to:

  • Complete and sign the Coon Rapids parade application
  • Turn in TV commentary
  • Submit the appropriate entry fee
  • Submit certificate of insurance

Your first acceptance notification will be the deposit of your entry fee.

By mid-June, the Coon Rapids parade chair will send you (via email) set-up time, specific route information including a map with parking locations, severe weather emergency instructions and your line-up number.

PARKING

There will be ample parking near the lineup area.  Parade marshals will be on site monitoring traffic and they will direct you to parking areas after dropping off individuals or setting up floats.   Parking information will be provided with your lineup #.

BEHAVIOR

By submitting an application you agree all participants of your entry will follow the Coon Rapids parade rules, Coon Rapids parade representatives and law enforcement officials.

Individuals and organizations are expected to perform courteously, in good taste and with safety in mind at all times during the assembly, execution and dispersal of the parade.

Everyone must respect and follow the directions of all volunteers, police, reserves, city staff and Coon Rapids parade representatives.

Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate removal from the parade.

DRIVERS

All drivers must be licensed, insured and adequately trained to drive their unit.

Please retain your assigned line-up number so our commentators may give accurate information about you and/or your group.

JUDGING OF PARADE UNITS

Judging of parade entries will take place this year!  All entries will be judged on Workmanship, Design, General Effect, Theme, Costume & Casting.

Entries will be judged in the following categories:
Royalty Floats
Clubs & Organizations
Church & Youth Groups

Please indicate which category you wish to be judged in.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

If there is bad weather before the parade, Coon Rapids parade representatives and law enforcement officials will decide if it is severe enough to cancel or delay the parade and will inform all units.

These are general guidelines for severe weather:

  • If there is light rain, the parade will take place.
  • If there is heavy rain, lightning, thunder or hail close to start time, there will be a half-hour delay.
  • After the delay, Coon Rapids parade representatives and law enforcement officials will decide whether or not to cancel the parade.

There are no refunds in the event of weather cancellation or other acts of God.

DISTRIBUTION OF MATERIALS/CANDY ALONG PARADE ROUTE

ALL CANDY, PRINTED MATTER OR MATERIALS OF ANY KIND will be allowed to be distributed CURBSIDE by walkers while on the parade route.  NOTHING IS ALLOWED TO BE THROWN FROM PARADE UNIT.  We cannot have parade spectators running in to the streets near parade units/vehicles retrieving items that are being thrown from units.  Violator’s materials may be confiscated.

Portable amplification equipment for music or group singing is permitted.

Monitor the volume so sound does not overpower the musical units adjacent to your unit in the parade.
