The Lions Club Of

Christ Church West Inc.

The Lions Club of Christ Church West was chartered on November 25th 1992.

At that time, Lions International ended its Lioness program and the South Lioness club opted to form this new Lions Club.

The Charter President was Lion John Bourne, the guiding Lion Carl Browne and the Sponsoring Club was Lions Club Barbados South.

Our current president is Lion Randy Payne.

Signature projects target sight preservation and support of children with special needs.  We have made donations to the Barbados Cancer Society to assist children suffering from childhood cancers.

We have donated equipment to the Orthoptics Clinic at the Lions EyeCare center at the Queen Elizabeth hospital and will continue to assist that institution through other projects.

The club is also committed to supporting the special educational programs for students who are low-vision/blind; hearing-impaired/deaf and some with autism. We appreciate the major contribution of the Sandy Lane charitable trust towards this effort.

In our seniors program we have worked with the Vauxhall Senior Citizens' Village where we have assisted with the refurbishment of their recreation room; conducted a Reading Action program and organized lunches and other social activities.

Other routine projects include diabetes screening and other areas of health promotion; work in primary education including the provision of school supplies and an annual spelling quiz; beach clean-ups and other programs.

We look forward to continued service in partnership with our sponsors and members of the public whom we thank for their unflagging support.
