Welcome to the Charlotte Lions Club Website

Lions help to meet the needs of our local communitiy.  Lions worldwide share a core  belief – to serve their community.

The  Mission of the Charlotte Lions Club"We serve" our local community with a focus on vision, diabetes, youth, and humanitarian efforts.

To serve the world and our local community, the Charlotte Lions Club conductes fundraising events.  The profits from our fundraising activities are distributed at the direction of our Board of Directors and club members.  The money buys the goods and services used to fund our projects and support the community.  All monies raised from the public go back to the public.  That means that no funds raised by the Lions from the general public or through donations from some outside sources can go toward the Lion's Club Administration.

Some of the fundraisers the Charlotte Lions Club has initiated:

  •  Cheese sales in November & December
  •  Garage sales in the summer/fall
  •  Book sales
  •  Furniture Restoration
  •  White Cane Awareness and promotion in April/May
  •  Courthouse SquareActivities:  Lions sell popcorn/water/ice cream at the summer concerts; The Oddities Event Summer Concerts--sell popcorn, and provide treats to children at the "Almost Midnight Madness-Hallowween" event
  • Lions Mint Sales at local establishments on a year-round basis.
  • Kidsight vision screening at Touch a Truck event June 15 downtown Charlotte as a part of Celebrate Charlotte.

The Charlotte Lions serve youth.  In Charlotte, the Lions support our community with scholarships for graduating seniors, donations of back packs for the "Youth Back Pack program"  through Peace Lutheran Church, donated children's clothing to those in need, and help support Crosswalk Teen Center.

Lions give sight.  Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all which works to eradicate blindness.  The Charlotte Lions collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids all year long which help provide much needed glasses in other countries. For eyeglass collections go to "Eyeglasses page".  Locally, eye glasses are provided for those in need through an application process within the Charlotte Lions Club.  See the " Resources" page for contact information if there is a need for eyeglasses or hearing aids.  The Lions are involved in KidSight vision screening during "Touch a Truck" in June in downtown Charlotte.

Lions are active. Our motto is "We Serve." Lions are part of a global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our local communities.

The Charlotte Lions help support the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) which has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world. LCIF was also ranked the number one nongovernmental organization in a 2007 study by The Financial Times.

The Charlotte Lions are eager to seek avenues to help meet multiple global focus areas: vision, diabetes prevention, youth, and enviornment, and humanitarian causes (disaster relief, hunger, childhood cancer).
