Meetings

The Bloomingdale Lions Club is engaged in many projects. One of our major events is delivering Christmas Baskets to the needy residents in our area. These baskets are distributed by club members and provide food for a holiday dinner and gifts for the family. In 2016 we gave over $4,000 in food and gift cards to six local families.

In addition, our club ensured thirty-five children were provided with a Christmas gift by supporting the Bloomingdale Township's Giving Tree.

The community is able to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt courtesy of the Bloomingdale Lions Club. This free event provides a fun, safe and enjoyable day for the children.

The members of the Bloomingdale Lions Club join in many community activities such as the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce 50 Men Who Cook, the Bloomingdale Septemberfest, the Bloomingdale Police Department Senior Fair and the Lions District 1J Bowling Tournament for vision impaired individuals which also gives those with normal vision the experience of bowling while blind. Club members also assist those who are visually impaired to hike and cross country ski at the annual Lions Ski for Sight event.  Also, many Lions participate in Feed My Starving Children.

The Bloomingdale Lions Club stages several fund raising events during the year. We are fortunate to partner with many local businesses who purchase advertising space on placemats which are used at Lions dinners and events.

Funds raised from placemat ads, our Spaghetti and Steak Fry dinners, Vidalia Onion sales and "We Serve" Raffle with a grand prize of $5,000 allow our club to give back to the community in the form of donations and services. In addition to our usual contributions, in the last few years we've also assisted the Bloomingdale Library in purchasing a state of the art magnifying reader for vision impaired Library patrons, supported DuJardin Elementary School’s new Playground for Everyone, supported construction of Bloomingdale’s new Sunnyside Park fully accessible playground and contributed to Bloomingdale Parks reconstruction of the Homola Picnic Shelter (the original Homola shelter was built by the Bloomingdale Lions).
