2017 Amherst Citizen of the Year is Cynthia Domka! Read about her in the July 2017 edition of the Amherst Citizen

2018 Citizen of the Year is Paul Spiess.Paul has played a variety or roles in many  community organizations and committees: among them are Souhegan School Board, Restore the Center, NH Fiscal Policy Institute, Share, Bean Foundation, and soccer coach. 

2019's Citizen of the Year is Don Potter, a member of the Amherst Lions Club. He led the efforts for early vision screening in the Amherst schools for 35 years  -- an estimated 20,000+ local students have undergone tthose screenings. This past year, his efforts resulted in the vision screening for more than 1,000 students at Wilkins Elementary School, Amherst Middle School, the Preschool in the Village and Sunrise Children’s Center. In addition, he has served as a Deacon at the Amherst Congregational Church for 36 years. He currently also serves on the Board of Directors of the non-profit Bridges, a haven for domestic abuse victims. Lion Don originated, and for the past 8 years has, continued to be the main organizer of the Amherst Lions Club Car, Truck and Tractor Show that has generated more than $40K for local charities. His nomination form said that “He is a big-hearted man” who has worked tirelessly to serve others who are less fortunate than him.
