CLUB INFORMATION

Key Points

Abertillery (Blaenau Gwent Valleys) Lions club, is part of Lions International District 105W. We are a voluntary group working primarily within Blaenau Gwent. All funding we collect within the Blaenau Gwent Valleys is donated back to worthy causes within Blaenau Gwent.

The president changes yearly, who selects the main charity to which the majority of the fundraising is donated to. Smaller donations are also made to other organisation within Blaenau Gwent. We also contribute to Lions Internationl appeals (LCF)

We work with the local community council, where our Father Christmas Sleigh is used as part of the Christmas festivities, primarily when turning on the Christmas lights in both Abertillery & Llanhilleth.

Abertillery BGV lions have funded Abertillery Bluebirds successful application to affiliate to CYP Wales (Clubs for Young People) formally the Boys & Girls Club of Wales

This organisation and the Bluebirds provide a route for the youth football players of the town to obtain international honours of which the club has 2 caps. Good luck Abertillery Bluebirds

 

Two members of Abertillery BGV Lions club were part of the trustee board that set up the voluntary organisations community network group called Ffrindiau Tyleri.   Abertillery BGV Lions actively support their events Aberfest and Winterfest by putting on a wine & cheese event in the summer and santa’s grotto in the winter.

As result of Abertillery & District, Twinning with Royat in France Close links have been formed with Clermont Ferrand Lions club who are based in Royat.
