Celebrated Melvin Jones Birthday

The West Bend Lioness Lions celebrated Melvin Jones birthday with preschoolers at the West Bend Community Library's Story Time on January 20, 2015.  Twenty-seven preschoolers and 16 adults enjoyed cupcakes and juice after the stories were read by Lion Bronwyn Weber and Lion Sue Schmitt.  Lion Mary Lou Desrosier gave a short presentation about Lions Clubs.  Along with this, theClub sponsored a food pantry drive at the Library the whole week of January 19 to 24.  Lion Nancy Larson also helped at Story Time and delivered 95 food items to the Full Shelf Food Panty.

Braille Menus

Lion Sue Schmitt recently delivered a Braille Menu to Jessica Trunkel, owner of the Coffee Corner Bistro in Kewaskum.  Providing Braille Menus has been an ongoing project of the West Bend Lioness Lions Club over the past year with many restaurants in the area now offering Braille Menus to their sight impaired customers.

Vision Screening

In February the West Bend Lioness Lions offered vision screening at the annual Celebrate Families event .

Pencils for Schools

On February 9th Lion Sue Schmitt delivered boxes of pencils to Green Tree Elementary School and McLane Elementary School.  The pencils were donated to the Lions in our district to be distributed to schools in the area.

Check for Leader Dog

The Leader Dog Chairman visited our club and in January and talked on the Leader Dog campus and the renovations that are planned for it.  Our club gave him a check for $750 for this project.

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Each month we honor a student from West Bend East High School and a student from West Bend West High School.  In June one student from each school that has been honored through the year is awarded a $500 school.  This year's scholarship winners were Alex Fountain from West Bend East High School and Taylor Chemer from West Bend West High School.  (See photo in our Photo Gallery)

Terri Lynn Nut Sales

Normally we sell nuts at various craft shows and businesses,  However, this year most of these were cancelled due the the coronavirus.  We are asking customers to take advantage of our web-store to order their nuts and have them shipped right to their door.  https://wbend-lioness-lions.terrilynn.com.

Used Eye-glasses abd Hearing Aids

As an ongoing project, we collect used eye-glasses and hearing aids to be used for 3rd world countries.  Collection containers can be found in optical offices, churches and funeral homes, senior centers, etc.

Girl Scout Cookies

We purchased $100 of Girl Scout cookies and delivered them to the Food Pantry.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Annually we contribute $100 to the Community Thanksgiving Dinner Fund.

Lions Camp in WI

In addition to our annual donation of $500 we gave $100 toward a John Deere Gator for the camp.

Marshfield Clinic

All clubs in the State were asked to help match a $25,000 grant from LCIF to help pay for "The Lions Healing Space' at the Marshfield Clinic.  It was voted to give $250 to this project.

Cedar Community

We were asked by Cedar Community to make 100 homemade Christmas ornaments to decorate one of their trees.  Each member made ornaments for this project.

Smaritan Health Center

Each year members of our club buy Christmas gifts for residents at Samaritan Health Center.

Funds donated for District and State Projects

$150 was donated to Leader Dog, $200 to Eyebank of WI, $100 to Youth Exchange, $200 for Hearing Aids,

4th Annual Fish Fry

On May 21, 2021 this event took place in partnership with the Moose Lodge in West Bend.  Since we were just coming starting to hold events after the pandemic; the profit was not as large as in the past, but a good boost to our Project Account.

                                                                       2021-2022

Celebrated 100th Anniversay of WI Lions Clubs

We celebrated this event by putting together 100 Birthday packages containing cake mix, frosting, sprinkles, birthday cake candles, oil, birthday cards.  These were given to the Food Pantry.
 

5th Annual Fish Fry

On May 6th we held our Fifth Annual Fish Fry partnering with the Moose Lodge 1398 in West Bend.  Since things have started to ease with the pandemic, we had a larger crowd and the profit was good.  We hope to see everyone again in May 2023.

Scholarship Winners

This years scholarship winners were Maren McDonnell from West Bend East High School and Ella Baars from West Bend West High School.
