Lions Christmas Cakes
A huge Thank You to all who have supported the Lions Clubs by purchasing the famous and popular Lions Australia Fruit Christmas Cakes and Puddings.
Cakes are available in 1.5kg ($20) and 1.0kg ($16) sizes and are made to the finest quality. The 900g Puddings are $16. Cakes contain over 50% fruit content and are all Australian Made. They are delicious and long lasting. A Christmas is not a Christmas without a Lions Christmas Cake or Pudding.
All proceeds from the sale of cakes goes to charity to build a better life for someone in our community who is less fortunate than ourselves. Orders can be emailed to the Club.
Lions Christmas Cakes and Puddings are sold at Werribee Pacific (Plaza) and Manor Lakes Shopping Centre each Saturday and Sunday in December leading up to Christmas. Cakes can also be purchased from the Bendigo Bank Werribee and Sesto Shoes Werribee. Cakes can also be purchased by contacting the Lions Club of Werribee.

Lions Christmas Cakes, a holiday tradition in many Australian homes, turned 50 last year.
In 1965 an Australian Lion executive visiting a Canadian Lions club got the idea of selling Christmas Cakes to fund community projects. Since then Lions volunteers have sold millions of cakes in shops, offices, street stalls, fetes and raffles across Australia.
"Lions Cakes are as Christmas as cricket in the backyard or thongs at a beach" said District Governor David Lowing. "They have been around for so long they have become a Christmas tradition in Vistoria".
During the 2020 holiday season the City of Wyndham shoppers purchased over 1900 red and green packaged cakes and puddings, and nationally sales were over $1 million.
The popular cakes have a serious side. Many community programs benefit from the cake sales such as providing specially trained dogs for hearing impaired people and supporting the Lions Eye Bank which collects, stores and distributes corneas for transplants.
Over the years the popularity of the Lions Cakes has been built on consistently high quality and good taste. Each cake is made from at least 40% Australian ingredients, includes 50% fruit content and Bundaberg rum. Baking takes place in batches of 1476 cakes at 130C for 155 minutes.
Cakes at Christmas give people a way to donate to Lions' community projects.
Lions Mints
One of the many fund raising ideas Werribee Lions have is selling the famous Lions Mints. Around the Wyndham area we have many Mint Stations where for 60 cents anyone can buy a packet of these specially made lollies. Each packet has 12 lollies in it.
There are many flavours like Fizzers, which as the name suggests fizze on your tongue. Other flavours we have in the range are spearmint, musk and peppermint.
All of the profit made from selling these lollies is put back into the community in projects that have been identified as needing assistance. This can be purchasing supplies to build a ramp for a person who needs wheelchair access to their house.
The shop or business where the mint station is located are not responsible for ensuring you pay for your purchase. It is a honour system where we hope people are honest about paying for their treat.
The Mints are made in Australia which again on a broad scale supports employees who make them.
