Ongoing Project

Bring your used eyeglasses to one of these locations and help provide vision to someone who is in need.  These used glasses are picked up on a regular basis, sorted and sent off to be reused.

  • Post Office, 150 Pompton Plains Crossroad, Wayne, NJ 07470
  • Municipal Building, 475 Valley Rd, Wayne, NJ 07470
  • 404 Black Oak Ridge Rd, Wayne, NJ 07470

Tell others about this very valuable resource for the community of the visually impaired...it's a good thing to do.  These glasses mean the difference between seeing and not...and it doesn't cost you a dime.

Thank you for your help!

WAYNE LIONS EYE SCREENING

Can your child’s vision be improved? That’s the question that the Wayne Lions Club answers by conducting free eye screenings for preschool children in Wayne.  We use special vision scanning equipment that can detect lazy eye, farsightedness, nearsightedness, cataracts and other problems.

The results are then reviewed by Dr. Scott Silodor, MD.  (Silodor Eye Associates). His office contacts the parents of children who may need further evaluation.

Marty Bookman started the Wayne Lions “See Program” in Wayne in 2012. He along with other Lions assisting, have tested over 1000 children with a 14% referral rate. 12 local preschools have been participating in this ongoing program including Apple Montessori, Boys and Girls Child Care Center, Ready Set Grow and the Goddard School.  Ask the Director at your preschool if they have enrolled in this fantastic program.  For more information call Marty at 914-714-9439.
